Why is it the moment a thread become intelligent. The thread dies?

I've noticed this.

Racist threads go on for pages in some cases.
A million political pro or anti-bush threads start and they go on for pages too.

In short, some of the most pathetic and non-entertaining things get tons of attention. But something of reasonable tact or intellect is often less than a dozen posts.

Is this a sad commentary on GFY or society in general?

I think people do not read serious post cause about 90% of them our from newbs acting like they have some great advice to give us. The people you really want to hear from are usually too busy to give good advice.

The webmaster community here at GFY is very liberal and this board is generally unmoderated. If you want a strictly moderated board that only discusses webmaster related topics, try another board like GG&J.

Webmaster to my site is a complete fuck-head idiot. He disappeared on me months ago and left me with a half un-finished project. Even if I wanted to fix the problem I can't.

It depends on who the poster is, look at the times the thread is read to gauge properly. But a thread about beer will always out do a thread about porn business here.

Good question. I don't think it's an indictment of the intelligence/maturity/EQ level of this board but a reflection of how some threads work. Some threads get a lot of mileage due to a small group of people exchanging posts (aka pissing or arguing). There ARE a few LONG threads where most of the participants post only once but those are somewhat rare. The "intelligent" threads or threads where traffic strategies are discussed are usually bookmarked not bumped.
