Sorry for not responding to this little gem earlier. It got overlooked in the morass of shit you posted.

Every doctor I know, and I know many, prefer CASH over insurance anyday. If you are referring to doctors not wanting to give you free care, then you are correct.

Every conversation I have ever had:
"Hello, Doctor Smith's Office"
"Hi, I need an appointment"
"Okay, what is your insurance provider?"
"I am paying cash"
"Oh, okay, come on in"

Not only that, but I've been to the ER twice with out insurance and I got medical care.

In my state insurance wasn't required before last year. In fact 11 years ago I had a car accident and didn't have car insurance and never got a ticket. Of course I also ended up with a $16K medical bill.

Even now you are only fucked if you happen to get pull over. You can get your car registered here without having to show proof of insurance and trust me I know a lot of people with NONE. As I said this is the state in which I reside so it is in fact VALID.

You state your child is as healthy as a horse. Why is he on a $500 deductible? This is throwing money out the window.
So I should get the $5000 decuctable. And if it so happens he needs $4500 worth of medical treatment where do I get this money?

Quote:
Your math is also fucked up. You state you pay $96 a month (12 * $96 = $1152) + a $500 deductible = $1652.
My math is fine. If he has $2000 medical bill in a year I'm liable for 20% of the remaining $1500 after my dedectable is met. So add $300 to $1652 that's gives you $1952. Looks about the same to me. If my son doesn't go to the doctor at all I'm out $1152 vs $ZERO if I didn't have insurance. Then of course I'm taking a big risk that my son never needs a doctor.

Quote:
You do realize that if you moved him to a $2500 deductible, the premium would go to $40 a month ($480 a year).
Actually your off because that's what it is for the $5000 dedectable. Anyways as I said what if he needs $4500 worht of medical care at $2500 I'm out $2500 deductable, $480 premium, $400( 20% of remaining $2000 ) that's $3380 vs $500 deductable, $1152 premium and $800( 20% of remaining $4000) that's $2452. Ok so which is cheaper $3380 or $2452? hmmmmmm. Not to mention the fact that I KNOW for fact I can get my hands on $500 to meet the deductable, $2500 is a lot tougher to get your hands on in an emergeny situation.

This is all insurance 101, but feel free to complain more, while throwing more money out the window.
Don't patronize me. Quit acting like your have some superior intelligence.

Now factor a 5% or 10% increase in Federal Taxes to pay for socialized medicine. Which will cost you more money? $500 a year on an insurance policy, or $xxxxxx dollars in taxes.
What if I proposed that people had to get their roads paved out of their own pockets instead of taxes or how about our military? What if that was privatized and if youu couldn't afford your own protection from foreign invaders or terrorists, well you are just fucked. You taxes should would be lower, but you'd think I was nuts.

Quote:
And so my cards are on the table I have a $5000 deductible catastrophic policy that I have had for 7+ years ($30 a month). Do you see the cost savings on this for someone who, as you say, "Is Healthy As A Horse"? Unfortunately people who live in countries with socialized medicine no not have this CHOICE (to not pay the taxes and pay their own way).
A)This is the cheapest plan they have with a $5000 dedectable. I just check right now. I'm 36 male, non smoker

Plan Number*: H26
Medical Plan Information: No copay
80% in-network/60% out-of-network coinsurance
$5,000 ded/$10,000 out-of-network ded
$6,000 out-of-pocket/$13,000 out-of-network out-of-pocket
Prescription $10/$35/$50 copay

Your estimated monthly rate for medical coverage will be between $56.17 and $123.58.

B) In case you didn't know we already have socialized medicine here in America WTF do you think medicaid and medicare are? Considering I pay $2.50 out of every $100 I earn so your gramdma can go to the doctor and get her pills I'd STFU.

Unfortunately in this country, we spend far too much time bitching about things and looking for Mommy to help us, than educating people on how to money manage, and maintain their own lives...

Where in the fuck did I say I expect my "mommy" to help me? fuck off asshole. I pay my own way. Hell I could go down to the local DHS office and get my kid on TennCare, but I CHOOSE to pay for it because I can afford to and I'd rather not put up with government bullshit. Considering our TennCare progema is mostly is funded by sales taxes I have certainly paid my fair share into that program and I don't get a damn thing out of it.

That's you. How about lots of regular people

"Hello, Doctor Smith's Office"
"Hi, I need an appointment. My child is very sick."
"Okay, what is your insurance provider?"
"I don't have any"
"Can you pay cash?"
"No. I'm broke"
"click"

Should a child die because his parents aren't rich? Is that how we value life today?

Why? It means an extremely low crime rate, no poverty, health insurance and education for everybody, etc.
