They may tear down the super dome!

They are now saying its structural damage that will require the whole thing to be destroyed!

I think that it might be, not a single person will come back into that place after everything that took place in it. There isnt an insurace plan for "lack of sales" but I am sure the insurance would cover it if the structure is damaged

There are a million stories about what went on in that building they could never use it again

the only way to get out of it is structural

the same people who declared it unuseable will be part of the company hired to rebuild it. look into the "Witt Company"

2 + 2 still = 4

Yeah, all the cities should plan for hurricanes and mass destruction for this very reason.

When/if they rebuild New Orleans the last thing they need to worry about is a sports complex. If they do rebuild, which frankly is stupid, they need to address the issue of flooding. Too many people have died, and all of that because of living in a place that is already a cesspool

Saints are moing to San Antontio or LA so no need for a stadium. Last thing New Orleans needs to use momey on is a football stadium. Hell they never had trhe money BEFORE the hurricane now they are going to have the money?

I'd never step foot in that place now. Not after it had dead bodies sitting in it for days.

I disagree. To rebuild the city, they need to rebuild the parts of the city that brought in money and tourism. Besides being home of the Saints, the Superdome was home to college teams, Super Bowls, College Bowl games, NCAA tournaments, concerts, conventions, and many other things.

The whole roof is fucked up and the lower foundation has been submerged in water for too long.

Its not safe. Its not practical nor economical to fix it. Just like all the houses that have been sitting under 10 to 20 feet of water, you're better off tearing down and starting over.

I think there are issues in NO that need to be looked into and sorted out long before they start worrying about the dome.

State high school championships and on and on. However, will the number of people returning even be enough to justify a football team or the dome? They said up to 100,000 of the people that ended up in Houston won't ever leave.

They'll definitely rebuild the city. They'll just have to come up with an ingenious levee system that can with stand a category 10 hurricane.

The city has(had) too many citizens and too much history/culture to just say "fuck it" no matter how logical it may seem to someone from the other side of the country/world.

I don't think you can take their first reaction after getting off the bus as gospel. They won't know how many people will truly return untill the city is rebuilt.

I assumed long before the TV was reporting it that a ton of people will never return. The people that were flooded lived mostly in poverty to begin with. By the time New Orleans is inhabitable for them they will have a better life set up elsewhere.
