Nice specs. Soon this technology too will be obsolete.

Doesn't it seem like innovation has slowed in computer Technology? For a few years 1990 to 2000 technology grew exponentially. It seemed to then stop.

Did the innovators stop innovating?

A lot of growth was because of imagination, the impossible became possible.

Are there less nerds now?

My questions need a separate thread.

I'm a laptop fan. Always used laptops. Gamers are what spur the increases in power and memory etc.

For me, graphics processing. Believe it or not, photoshop runs better for me on a laptop I bought years ago than one I bought last year.

If true, how fast and powerful do we need? What the breakthrough we really need is BATTERY LIFE. Why they're bullshitting around with putting out batteries that can last weeks and months is only because they want to make money.

I forgot which company got a big bitchslap for scamming on battery life but it happened this year.

Portability, power, independence from energy source.

Amen on battery life I also think for computer speed to go higher , a new os would have to come to be,windows sucks and is very clumpy. Wonder what that laptop would cost?

Fucking badass...I can't believe that solid state drives haven't already taken over the market...if you really think about how a hard drive works, it's pretty fucking primitive.

I think it's moreso a lack of the need for more computing power. The average person doesn't need anything higher than a P3 750mhz machine. A 500mhz is even completely doable.

You don't need 4ghz to do word proccessing when it'll work just as good on 166mhz.

The company was HP. I was contacted to be in a civil lawsuit or whatever the heck it was.

Looks like that Laptop will be over $20K

$5000 for the Harddisk, $6000 for the RAM.

This is supposed to reduce power consumption a lot as well. I can't wait till it is mass produced!

no. they figured out how to slow down the development curve so the marketing people could properly milk each little advancement for the most amount of money.

There's a lot of that going on. Especially in the US.

I was looking at washer and dryers the other day. In Europe they've had front loading washers for years, but we only just recently got them here. Of course, they cost double the amount as the old top loaders.

Now I've read that they've got washer and dryer all-in-one units in some countries. You won't see those in the US until the front loader washer market has been fully tapped.

Same deal with LCD monitors. They started out with the small 15 inch. Wait until everyone gets those, then release 17. Then 19 inch, etc...
