She might have a sack full of things that are needed to survive as well as a few "items" she felt no one would miss. No one but that lady knows what is in that bag. I honestly don't care what is in the bag. It's survival at this point and not looting.

ok this is getting ridiculous...

a women (white) with some bleach (and what seems like a bottle of blue ketchup? wtf) in here hands...and a bag (with her 7y.o.): She probably has jewlery and camera in her bag!

some guy with shiloads of beers(black): he probably tried to rescue it from his home!..

Sure racism is bad...I agree...but in this precise case...no need to be stupid and be racist the other way...why are you assuming the LESS plausible scenario in both case?? Trying to make the white girl look bad looter, and the black man like some guy who rescued his beer?...

Why not be neutral...I've seen pics of black persons getting food and other goods they needed...I also saw pics of white people looting..shit like dvds etc..

but in this case...come on the pics are pretty obvious...
You guys are the one fetching here...

I think people are just trying to show how there can be 'other sides' to a photo in both cases. People are making judgements based nearly entirely based on skin colour even if they aren't aware of it. If you changed the colour of the woman people would be asking what was in the bag.

SilverTab 09-06-2005 12:59 AM

bah...the racial battle has been done so many times since the hurricane, it's not even worth the time anymore LOL...no matter what side you are on...

with the 20+ threads about racism in the last couple of days, i'm willing to bet no one changed their mind and still have the same opinion about black/white they had in the first place...

It`s called political corectness. That`s why in "Katrina the Movie" all looters

will be white - like Dark Jedi predicted

Acctually in my case I just see it as a sociology exercise. I would have thought I got enough of those when studying for the degree.

Was the conclusion the same as when you did your sociology degree? That communism/marxism is great? :helpme

Sorry but we do a load of sociology in my course also, and it is one of the most biased areas of study there is. Everything comes back to some bullshit Marxist perspective being correct.

Mine was pretty even handed but I do know what you mean from having read socilogy works on my own since.

A lot of the courses I had for my degree actually dealt a lot with marketing a and corporate sociology in addition to the whole 'we need to understand each other' thing.

Strange but true - the most interesting class over all I took was about the Sony Walkman and how it was sold to the population. That went everywhere from corporate structure in Japan and its effect on society down to how they sold it to different races in different parts of the world. Now, I use some of that info to sling smut..lol
