It was a kind of different board back then, but you still needed to have a back bone to hang here.
There was a lot of other cool people here but alot don't post as much now

You can search in reverse order if you go to advanced search.
Here is the first thread about the WTC.. just a few minutes after the first plane crash.
That was a very surreal day for GFY http://www.gfy.com/showthread.php?t=38959
SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.
I don't remember ever seeing the words...*see sig*
Boneprone and the BP4L group kept things going and very funny!
The drama was more meaningful and believable.
There were quite a few more women that posted then.
A thread would last more than a few hours on the main page.
The was no WOJ at 50
You might not be as anonymous as you think you are.
The 9/11 post about the planes hitting the twin towers went like 10 pages in no time, in fact that thread is where I learned about what was happening. It seemed like a lot of people thought it was the start of world war III or something, was pretty intense.
From day one this board has been a vortex where you either sink or swim. Kind of like a giant toilet, bigger than other toilets on the block but with more shit going on. :D

There were a lot fewer GFY members then also. A thread going to 10 pages back then would be like one going to 50 pages now without all the BS. Very rare.
just wait till 9/11...some ass always bump the thread and the rest of the people tell him how it's either "classless" or how it's a good idea to remind the people of what happened etc.....same thing every year...
mmm my sig was too big... no more cool animation but hey still! need php?ICQ: 94586959
Yes, it was but on the day we were getting more news from that thread and personal accounts than we were getting on the news. Not to mention phone lines down and people calling people's families for each other, etc.
To be honest, it was the day I saw the human side of a lot of people here. We were all friends for a few hours.

BP4L is 4-Life man..
Thanks for the props dude..
Still here. Still BP4L..
Just chilling watching all the poor $$ newbies make fools of themselves..
Only a matter of time before we sweep them all up and fuck with em with the family again.
It was a shitty day in this world's history ... not just the event ... but the whole thing that followed...

Oh and there weren't that many surfers around here.....
Must be the 10th time Ive read that thread al the way through
So fucking scarey
I used to bump it every year on the day but then I started getting abuse for doing it so I let others do it. I just think it is an incredible bit of history and not just because I started it. I remember posting something in there like 'those buildings aren't going to hold'..chills
God, reading that 9/11 thread is chilling - posts like "Can you believe there's only one Trade Centre Tower left?" and "Those buildings aren't going to hold" and the fact that three people posted "The second tower's gone" pretty much all at the same time shows how crazy that day was.
Unfortunately, I was only twelve when it happened - I don't remember much of the actual day. I wasn't really sure what'd happened, and only in recent years have come to appreciate the true horror and scale of the whole event.
Currently download the National Geographic's 9/11 Documentary from Bitsoup.org - recently I've wanted to know everything about 9/11 since I missed so much on that fateful day. In fact, I don't think I even reacted to it. I actually remember seeing people being interviewed after both planes had gone in and seeing them sobbing and genuinely frightened, and then seeing the towers smoking and saying something like "Christ, you're overreacting a bit - it's only a fire isn't it?". I always feel guilty for saying that, even though I didn't know truly what had happened.
Yeah, I may be British but seeing the partiotic stance of pretty much every American in the aftermath (in terms of days) was truly awe-inspiring.
