Those defending Bush, who do you blame for New Orleans turning into Bosnia? Why were we able to get help to Tsunami victims before our own country? Why do people in Baghdad live better on our dime than people in New Orleans? Not bashing Bush, just wondering who is to blame for this poor response.

HALIBURTON

I was wondering why they decided to ship them all to Texas so fast.

thats no suprise but the reason they were shipped to texas is because we have alot of space here and plenty of empty stadiums that aren't being used where people can stay. What really suprised me is that there was a huge line of people going to reunion arena to offer the refugees a home to stay at until they get thier stuff together

Whoa Whoa Whoa. Look bitch, until you have been to Bosnia/Kosovo/Serbia you better stop the use of these people as your 'example' asap. I have been to these places and unless you have seen it with your own eyes, and not the shit you are fed on TV, shut up.

To twist the hell these people have gone thru in the Balkans, by comparing them to poor Americans living in a self imposed hell... step the fuck off

Until you have put YOUR life on the line in defense of a real cause, do not bring up any of these external conflicts.

Refer to my other posts about the root causes of all the problems you are seeing. Until the communities police their own actions and their own failures no one else should be blamed.

To compare the struggle of the Serbians or the Albanians to the poor of New Orleans is OBSCENE!

If we could drop MRES in Afghanistan and Somolia, I figure we could do the same in New Orleans......

bhutocracy 09-02-2005 10:06 PM

one thing i don't understand is why there wasn't airdrops of water, MRE's and medicine. I'm talking C-130's and parachute drops. I realise it's an innefficient distribution method.. but.. it would at least have been something and a HELL of a lot faster and FAR less man power intensive than trucks/helicopters(which were used more critcally to rescue).
*shrugs*

First, have you been to New Orleans? No. So isn't it hypocritical for you to say not to comment on an area you've never been in but can freely express your opinion on New Orleans?

Second, I never compared the struggles of people in any country to ours. I stated that what I see on TV and read in news reports of New Orleans reminds me of the same things I see on TV and read in news for countries like that. I also never mentioned any of the other countries you are using.

Lastly, my comment was to compare anarchy and chaos that has never been seen in the US. We hear of these stories from other countries all the time, but have never experienced it on our own. When I hear of people laying dead on the street for days, people not being able to get food or aid for a week, I don't think of the US.

As for your comments about giving states more control. I agree. We currently have a conservative government that appeals to primarily rural areas. There is a reason why major cities consistently vote democrat year after year. I would love states competing over citizens.

The problem is that no one wants to get involved in politics. We can't make major changes like this when half the people couldn't name the fucking governor of their state. I wish I knew a way to fix this, but until then, we'll have a government in place that will consistently piss off half the country.

Redrob 09-02-2005 10:19 PM

The Democrats have no "vision" or moral leadership. The Republicans are lead by the judgemental "Pat Robertson" types whose vision includes damnation of anybody who doesn't see the world in their black/white vision.

Our choices suck. Check out tonight's Realtime on HBO.

Hmm...the sixties come to mind. Between the blacks and the war protesters it was years of "anarchy and chaos".

I don't think the Dems ever realized and really don't want the duty of providing 'moral leadership'. They want to keep the peace, run the govt and leave morals where they belong, with individuals.

You're right theking, it's the blacks and hippies that cause all the problems huh? I'm glad this thing has at least made a lot of conservatives show their true colors. It's harder to tell who you really are without the sheets over your heads.

No, the Repubs will do what they did for Reagan, try to name every single major airport, street and public building after him until the gullibles start thinking he was George Washington resurrected.

On a red-hot August night in 1965, the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles exploded with racial frustration. Six days later, 34 people were dead, hundreds more injured and a wide swath of South-Central L.A. was scarred with burned-out buildings and looted stores.
This is one of the more memorable ones...but there were many...many.

You do not have a memory...but many druggies don't. I will repeat...my political persuasion is that of a moderate...with liberal leanings. I am not a Republican and have never been a Republican (even though my military comrades attempted to convert me...as the majority in the military vote Republican). I am not a fan of President Bush and most if not all of his cabinet.

As far as the goverment fucking me in the ass...this current Administration has not messed with me or my life any more so than any Administration has in my life time.

I don't think it can be argued intelligently. He is undoubtedly the worst.

you know when the US government wants something "allies" (used to) pop up from everywhere to get something from the cake. You don't know if all these intelligence agencies had the same opinion, you dont have access to the documents and i figure you dont work for one of them either.

The fact is that the UN wanted to continue the search for WMD evidence while the bush gov. had made up their minds from the start of all that shit to invade iraq.

It was their mission to go to war, and although they failed in gathering valid arguments they still did, because they CAN. Power and money is what that is called, and that is what makes the world go round. If you think anthing else you are a very naive person.

bush doesnt seem to mind our soldiers dying on an almost daily basis in iraq - but dont go into nawlins! 50 airboaters from florida wanted to go in but were denied ... this is a fucking disgrace. "who is to blame?" fuckin' a bush is to blame ... i do a job, people help me but if they fuck up I take the responsibility, period. this cocksucker was on vacation ... absolutely fucking disgraceful.

Article VI of the U.S. Constitution establishes that ratified treaties, such as the U.N. Charter, are the "supreme law of the land."

The laws of war are laws that must be obeyed by the United States, its officials and its military, and by the UN.

The laws are contained in treaties that the U.S. has signed, ........
War crimes are divided into two broad categories.
The first are called crimes against peace. Crimes against peace include the planning, preparation, or initiation of a war of aggression.
The second category are what we can call crimes against humanity.........

This law has arisen over hundreds if not thousands of years. All countries must obey it.
