this is now very bad and so sad to hear all that. the help that they are getting is still not enough to supply all of them. so heartbreaking to know that this is happening....

I really don't mean to come off as some arrogrant prick who thinks he knows all. What I DO know is I used to be some conservative asshole who thought like so many of the idiots here on GFY. I used to say "fuck you, if you're poor its your fault", "people with addictions are in the situation they are in because their own mistakes", "we are too liberal in diagnosing people with diseases and syndroms, lock them up and throw away the key". Those ignorant views are the direct result of having a primitive and uneducated perspective on modern (social and otherwise) sciences. Mind you, I used to share these views when I was 15 or 16 and lacked a lot of life experience. I assume people here are 18+ so when I see them stuck in a mindframe that I had in my adolescence my first reaction is "Grow the fuck up!!" and I apologize if that comes off in a condescending manner.

When people say looters are animals, and deserve to be shot, etc. I don't mean to defend the people who are putting the heroic rescuers at risk. My frustration simply lies with the fact that these rudimentary and crude remarks are counter productive and when people make these comments they are ignorant, and ill informed about the true realities of the devastation in the city of NO right now. If your first reaction is to shoot someone, then you are as much of a problem as the people in that situation. Don't you realize the irony? Their first reaction is of violence too! You think you're righteous, they think they're righteous... who's right? The person who writes the history books? Have we learnt nothing from our existence on earth? Maybe we should be focusing on more peaceful objectives so that we can walk away LEARNING from this situation rather then walking in circles.

I have been replying to these threads all week. I have not done a damn thing for my business. I have been glued to the TV.. writting emails to all the senators and politicians and government officials. I have been organizing a truck full of suplies to get down there. I have been trying to collect donations. I admit I am frustrated as hell that this type of stuff is going on. In the midst of reading this article that was posted here, I read the reply I originally replied to and snapped at him. I don't mean to shoot down people who are legitimately discussing solutions to the problem. We DO need to discuss these issues and raise a general concern/interest. However, stupid and inane comments like "kill them all" and "they're animals" are counter productive and I will continue to tell people to stfu for making comments like that.
