New Orleans pet shelters are overwhelmed, and get this

Lots of people dropped off their pets right before the Hurricane to serve as a "safe haven" for their animal. I'm sure a lot of people didn't predict such a heavy impact, they probably figured they could come back and get their pets withen a few days to a week or so.

The fucking animal shelters are putting all the animals to sleep.

People are going to come back to no home, and another big fucking suprise on top of it. No pet.

That is horrible. What can be done to help these poor animals??

Sometimes we focus on the human element of these tragedies when the animals are in need as well.

All of you who supported Iraq are directly responsible for this.

In early 2004, as the cost of the conflict in Iraq soared, President Bush proposed spending less than 20 percent of what the Corps said was needed for Lake Pontchartrain, according to a Feb. 16, 2004, article, in New Orleans CityBusiness.

On June 8, 2004, Walter Maestri, emergency management chief for Jefferson Parish, Louisiana; told the Times-Picayune: "It appears that the money has been moved in the president's budget to handle homeland security and the war in Iraq, and I suppose that's the price we pay. Nobody locally is happy that the levees can't be finished, and we are doing everything we can to make the case that this is a security issue for us."
One project that a contractor had been racing to finish this summer: a bridge and levee job right at the 17th Street Canal, site of the main breach on Monday.
pets died so we could invade iraq

levee funds were used for iraq instead of years of levee work.

              go iraq, go bushz

Fletch, would you be able to put up a link to the whole article that you quoted above, or give the source of it? I'd be very interested in reading all of it. Thanks.

He posted it in another thread .. long but good info ...

I don't want to think what I would do if my cat was " put down " ... probably go on a mission to kill one of the responsible , in Washington. And I am NOT joking.
I know that Asspimple is stoopid ... As he says, it is a FACT !

But I can't figure out how he can breathe or type , at the same time ....

                          Sad if true

Euthanising peoples pets because they are overwhlemed is completely wrong. We aren't killing people because places are over crowded

Bush stopped funds that would have protected new orleans directly where the levee breach occured.
