I guess this doesn't apply to zango. Think about it. You get pissed off because someone registeres/uses a domain name that is close to yours, and you want to sue. I assume for losing traffic/income ? Why else would you sue. Now here we have Zango that isn't using a domain close to yours, they are targeting YOUR domain, and you are losing a lot of traffic/income because of them. But in this case you say it is a waste of time to sue them. What happened to the lars that says " dont fuck with my content or my copyrighted material you will get owned !" |
madawgz why did you bump this

heh rather ironic looking back at this thread that lars is trying to protect his copyrights yet nowadays every copyright thief around is promoting aff..
|
About time the new 'adult leadership' emerged, huh?
Having no ethical standards is so yesterday. How about some new guys step up and provide decent products. |

In fact I know for a fact that AFF employ 1,000 people doing nothing but checking all their affiliates and the ownership of the content they use to send traffic to AFF. They are not one of these companies who might do something when it's it's reported to them. Depending on how much the affiliate is worth and who the guy is reporting it. Last week AFF were everyones enemy, this week they are everyones friend. A week is a long time on GFY. |
Seems I missed the original post date.
09-02-2005, 01:44 AM A year is an eternity on GFY. |

I still think there's more to the story than has been posted. If the traffic from Zango only represented a very small portion as Lars initially claimed, then I don't see why he wouldn't have made the ethical decision and quit advertising via Zango. He and his program would have retained their popularity amongst webmasters and he wouldn't have lost webmasters who have chosen not to support them because of his decision. Either Zango represents a much larger portion of their traffic than he has let on, or he made a sizable traffic deposit with Zango and isn't ready to abandon it and his money at this point. |

They Seriously need to hire a PR guy. Their official statement from their attorney and Lars several post since then have been terrible. Besides the fact they shouldn't be doing it in the first place, they have handled the situation about as good as a 10 year old. |

Amen to that. I pride myself on the fact that not one person here can say I have screwed them and I have done hundreds of thousands of dollars of transactions with people who post on GFY alone. I still do really well too, I don't have to cheat or screw anyone to get ahead. I could go create a spybot, err i mean "adware program" like zango and do the same thing they are doing but I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. I believe in karma and when you fuck people you will eventually get what is coming to you. It is one thing to market aggressivly, it is another to steal from the hardworking efforts of others. I know I wouldn't want someone to do it to me so I wouldn't do it to anyone else. However it seems pretty popular here by some who do well that it is ok to do whatever it takes as long as it is technically "legal". And then you have a 100+ million dollar a year company like AFF who could give a shit who they steal traffic/sales from and they will deal with shady sites/companies. :Oh crap Very Fucking sad. |

There are a handful of companies which run decent programs, but isn't it about time that people come forward to create quality products, not based on lying to make them work, that consumers can buy with confidence? It seems that there's this pervasive attitude that the surfer is there to be fucked over with substandard crap. Fucking idiots. |

some people fuck over the surfers and the webmasters. Why to fuck over eveyone who is responsible for making you money. :thumbsup |
I think its bad that a massive company like aff is stealing from other small webmasters in this fashion I mean people need to make a living and you get a multi-million dollar company stealing the bread from their table (its so fucked up its sick)

The way ifriends runs their affiliate company reminds me of the "Bob's" from office space laying off Milton: Bob Slydell: Yeah, we can't actually find a record of him being a current employee here. Bob Porter: I looked into it more deeply and I found that apparently what happened is that he was laid off five years ago and no one ever told him, but through some kind of glitch in the payroll department, he still gets a paycheck. Bob Slydell: So we just went a ahead and fixed the glitch. Bill Lumbergh: So um, Milton has been let go? Bob Slydell: Well just a second there, professor. We uh, we fixed the *glitch*. So he won't be receiving a paycheck anymore, so it will just work itself out naturally. Bob Porter: We always like to avoid confrontation, whenever possible. Problem solved from your end. http://www.tvsquad.com/media/2006/05/bob1a.jpg |
