Hurricane Katrina and How it Relates to the War in Iraq

Thanks to this freaking war, we have much less resources at home for natural disasters like Katrina. The military should have been ordered in there ASAP, but why won't Bush do it?

    http://www.swingstateproject.com/200...na_and_the.php

JACKSON BARRACKS -- When members of the Louisiana National Guard left for Iraq in October, they took a lot equipment with them. Dozens of high water vehicles, humvees, refuelers and generators are now abroad, and in the event of a major natural disaster that, could be a problem.

"The National Guard needs that equipment back home to support the homeland security mission," said Lt. Colonel Pete Schneider with the LA National Guard.

In no state have those deaths registered more than in Louisiana. Louisiana, along with New York, has lost more guardsmen and reservists - 23 as of July 24 - than any state in the nation, and all but one of those deaths have come in the last eight months.

    Patricia Taylor says:

Unfortunately, the citizens of the state of Louisiana are about to face the full force of Katrina without the benefit of their National Guard troops to protect them.

This is a direct consequence of President Bush's bad decision to invade Iraq.

Actually, I think that it is a direct result of the Reduction In Forces Program (RIF) started in 92, that reduced our active military by HALF, and forced them to suppliment themselves by using part time forces

No. If LA had enough National Guard at home where they are supposed to be and if Bush would have sent in the military ASAP, the situation would be a lot better now. And don't tell me they can't get there that fast. They can. They can freaking drop food and paratroopers if they wanted to and I'm sure there are other ways they could have got more aid in there faster. There were "no" first responders either.

Clinton had the military in there in 36 hours for Andrew. Too much of the National Guard is in Iraq, therefore they need the miltary there 3 days ago until they can get someone else to take over.

If the "National Guard" can be used both domestically and overseas, the fucking military can be used both places too.

It's not actual military troops I'm concerned about. It's the National Guard that are supposed to be here on our soil (that's why they aren't called the Foreign Guard). There are over 6000 National Guard troops from LA and Miss. over in Iraq with all their high water vehicles and supplies, instead of in NO where we need them.
Bush can no more fire Rove than Charlie McCarthy could fire Edgar Bergen.

                  " yes, but we got rid of a ' badman ' "

Meanwhile, a short quote of something really upsetting:

One of them, for example, got in with a bus. He saw one woman who was so desperate she actually handed her 2-month-old baby to another woman and said, "Take my child. I can't get on this bus, but you've got to try to save the child."

The woman promised her she would take care of that baby.

                    he actually said:

""Right now, the days seem awfully dark for those affected. I understand that," he said. "But I'm confident that, with time, you'll get your life back in order. New communities will flourish. The great city of New Orleans will be back on its feet. And America will be a stronger place for it."

"you'll get your life back in order".....uh because big bad bushie won't do it, he's a whore president, with his grand Crusade in Iraq brin'un over some deeemo-cracy there.
