And you cannot tranfer your domain away from there. Since they have to approve it. Also keep in mind allready registered domains and added dns will not be effected. |

In their updates here http://www.directnic.com/katrina.php they outline that they're going to stay in NO, in their current datacenter.
I really don't know how hey're gonna pull it off. The city is gone. It's going to take many months to get things in order there (restore power, drain water) I really hope they have backups and are going to move somewhere else. |

I asked the same question in another thread and was told your domains will stay up even if they are forced to leave. I guess the only thing that would be affected by them going down in new registrations and changes and so on.

First off, Directnic would never have a single spot for resolving DNS, that much I can assure you.
Next, they are not in a building that is under water, they've got a live cam running most all day from their floor in their building and Poydras St by them is clear of rising water so far. They are also on the 11th floor running with a diesel generator, and since they got more yesterday, I doubt they are in immediate danger of running out. This time next week, maybe it will be a different story, but they are also planning to start allowing people back into the city on Monday and I would figure that supplies will get through faster than people trying to return to their homes. Louisiana is a poor state, but no one's ever accused the officials of not doing everything they can to make money in the state, whatever it takes. |

Becaus they are just a reseller of icann in fact all domain registration companys are (like godaddy, tocows, enom, ect), your registration and name server data actually sits on icann's servers.
All this company can do is autherize changes and add new informatiom. |

Kimmy, the NO governor said that they are going to allow people (with proper IDs) back in to grab their belongings, and then not allow anyone back for 30 days. |

This is the internet after all. I do not think you are in danger if you stay with them.

Directnic is backing up all data to multiple data centers outside NOLA and were able to fill their diesel tanks yesterday.
We have all our domains with them and will not be switching anytime soon. |
