JD is not bourbon, because while bourbon is a "type" of whisky (much like Scotch & Rye are as well) JD is just a straight up "Whisky" ...the difference has to do with the process... the one that you're thinking of is Jim Beam, which has got to be the most motherfucking disgusting bourbon on the planet, it shouldn't even be called Bourbon, it is SICK. Wild Turkey is a very nice bourbon, although I've heard that Makers Mark is even smoother, I am not inclined to spend the money on a whole bottle of it & then find out I despise it. Especially since I rarely drink bourbon as it is.

I bet on a blind taste test of chilled vodka you all would not know the difference between one or the other; whereas one can easily differentiate between bourbans/scotches/whiskeys in terms of distillation, grain, etc.

Mind you I am not knocking either, but bourbans can certainly differ by a far greater degree than vodka which as far as I am concerned - once it is distilled to a certain level of purity - all tastes the same and separated only by marketing strategys. (remember when stoli carried cache?).

I would like to point out that the original Fleming James Bond character was considered "low class" because of his proclivity for vodka martinis.

The point... what you like is all a matter of taste, fashion is a fickle mistress, and there is no other time like the present to raise a toast to you all... in the libation of your choice of course!
