                                      I have firefox but was using opera at the time. I don't see why I should have to use a different browser because the forum is using fuked up advertising tactics!

                                                                                      I agree... popups suck and having to use different browsers or download special blockers and other crap is unnecessary. I understand that the board needs to make money, as I am sure it makes WAY more than it costs to run. So why have it if this is the only things that come from it.

                                                                                      1. Users with certain browsers cannot view the board comfortably (without feeling invaded by advertising)
                                                                                      2. Users get pissed off.
                                                                                      3. Users shut them off or use blockers or browsers to avoid them anyway.
                                                                                      4. The board makes enough money from other advertising tactics.
                                                                                      5. Slows the loading.
                                                                                      6. Pisses off users.
                                                                                      7. Pisses off users.

                                                                                          I haven't seen a single banner ad, button or popup on GFY in over 6 months thanks to firefox, adblock and turning off sigs. Since the powers that be here seem to have no interest in telling an advertiser "no" I decided to do it for them. I don't mind ads as long as they aren't overly intrusive (sounds, popups, etc). This is a webmaster board. We're not a bunch of idiotic surfers (well, SOME of us aren't idiotic surfers). Having ads like that tossed at me like I am a common AOL user pisses me the fuck off.

                                                                                              I would say that gfy is not struggling to make ends meet too. The use of these ads is very annoying. The banners with the sounds are bad enough but this is just infuriating!

                                                                                              How much is too much in regards to advertising? Especially on a webmaster board? Where most would never pay any attention to a popup ad.
