Anyone ever get an ulcer from excessive drinking?

I think that I have one..

How long does it take to get over them ? - I read a couple months.

I'm on a bland diet, drinking lots of water and sometimes mylanta.

Any other tips/suggestions/comments/flames?

Some people have them a lot longer than a couple months. It varies widely between people. You're best having a followup visit or few with your doc.

Main things you want to stay away from is greasy food, highly acidic food/drinks (and any foods that tend to trigger your acid reflux) and of course alcohol. Ulcers can be a symptom of other problems, so don't don't let them go too long between doctor consultations.

It can vary for a lot of reasons. How bad your condition is, how seriously you want to get over it, medications, and so on. Sometimes can be a few months, sometimes can be a lot longer. Make sure you keep in contact with doctor, and do your office visits.

I do not have a problem avoiding the chocolate, fast food, spicy shit, and so on for the most part. Also avoiding eating too close to bedtime because of that acid reflux crap. Cutting out Diet Coke is my main vice, but as long as you do it in moderation, and keep up with the other stuff doctor recommends, should be good as new, or atleast able to function in a few months.

Hopefully you caught yours early enough that simple moderation, bland food, and so forth will help clear it up for ya.

I had one from taking too much aspirin for migraines. You need to see a doctor, for sure. I almost died (got sick at the Cyberexpo show in NOLA in 2000 but didn't realize it was so severe until I got home) because of the blood loss.
