I have a netgear wireless router, when using it, it constantly keeps disconnecting or blocking me from getting out to the net, every few minutes it will work for a few minutes, then it will block me for a few then repeat. any ideas as to what causes this? |

First off go to http://192.168.1.1/ default pw "admin" username is blank and change your router pw. So nobody hijacks your router from you then come back.

				lan or wlan

what is disconnecting.. a wireless device or an actual device plugged into one oft he ports of the router. Make sure all pc's are running auto/ or 10mb/s full duplex. 100mb/s full duplex won't usually encapsulate right with the wifi and the res tof it .. you can set it that way on the pc copper connection and it appears right, but there often ends up to be intermitten disruptions as you explain. this is for lan not wireless cards.. cat5 patching to the router from a static desktop for example

so.. is it wireless that does that? you might have another router close to you that your system grabs and is unable to use. but its disrupting by attempting to jump "non preferred network" check your advanced settings on your wireless card on the pc thats wirelessly connecting. make sure to remove any other wlan's you may have saved in the properties window from previous connections. remove all but what you wanna connect to. hope that helps www.pornbased.com coming soon |

If your microwave is running or you have a 2.4 cordless phone, that will cause it. Anything running on the 2.4 spec will cause problems like this.

Did you check settings see if it doesnt autoconnect to other networks or so? SP 2 does that.

ive been having the same problem with my linksys....it completly cuts out, all of my laptops show that a cable is disconnected but its not. So i simply unplug and replug in the router and it works again...getting quite fucking frustrating though. Guess ill have to go buy a new router soon

One clue was that I'd only lose link certain times of the day. All I had to do was change the channel. |

It could be lots of things. If the ideas above dont work, try replacing the equipment. If you still get the same issue with a new one, then it is something in the area.
