I'm setting up a quad XEON for just MySQL today.

he he, this thing ways about 100 pounds. I think it could handle any single forums MySQL. But could be wrong.

We run a 10 server load balanced ipvs cluster to handle less than the amount of traffic that GFY gets. A typical high end server can handle maybe 200-225 hps, im sure GFY gets 800-1100hps so i would guess 5-7 front end and 2 monster sql servers in the backend. But thats only my guess.

front end is easy, but the backend will kill just about any server hardware you throw at it I am sure.

I host a few big 'ish forums and they EAT db's like mad.
