went to walmart - ROFL!!

soo, I went and bought some diapers and wipes for my baby.. like $25.00 no big deal.

Then I go to check out and I see the bitch @ the door eyeballin me hard. I walk through the doors and she's like "SIR, SIR". The guy in front of me turns around. She says " Sir I need to see your receipt". He tells me she is talking to me.

I laughed and said "so what, I paid" and kept walking. Bitch chased me outside then went back in, rOFL.

I encourage everyone to keep walking instead of wasting your time to show some stupid min wage bitch a receipt for something you paid for not even a minute before.

They need some big red paid tags like the grocery stores or something, rofl.

I dont get it.. what was the point? Do they randomly ask people to show their receipts or something? That would seem wrong.. Why didnt you stop and show her? I'm lost on this one completely I'm afraid.

Yes, they stop people and ask for receipts..

Why treat a paying customer like a criminal ?

I didn't stop because the bitch watched me checkout about 15 feet away from her.

Ya they do that, here you can't walk out with out showing the receipts and they look in your bag/bugy. Only Walmart does this that I know of.

Actually, the customer is of no requirement to show a reciept to ANYONE. And to demand him to do so is actually harrassment. To not let him leave unless he does is kidnapping (Yes, keeping someone from leaving is infact kidnapping.)

Then tell them to show you the paper that says they have a right to see your receipt. Or show you their badge. Or something. No wonder I dont ever shop at walmart. jesus. First they hire illegal aliens at ever chance they get, and they hire part time temps and turn them over before any benefits kick in. What a monster.

All of my area wal-marts only ask to see your receipt if you have items not in bags (Large bozes, etc..) that they can't be sure you paid for. It's a loss prevention thing... but is that 8 seconds of your time really worth being a dick to someone who's just trying to make a living and has been assigned the task of making sure your diapers were paid for?

This actually really does piss me off. They have no legal right to demand it. So you should be able to simply say no thank you, unless they are ACTUALLY accusing you of shoplifting. Another case of guilty until proven innocent, it's bullshit. It's really stunning to hear so many people put up with it. I'd let them arrest me for refusing and sue for millions if they actually had the balls to try to arrest me (which they wouldnt, because they have ZERO legal right to demand it unless they accuse you and expect to prosecute you for shoplifting). I've never been more tempted to go to walmart.

At the local Costco they check everyone's receipt. I guess that is better than random checks, at least they aren't singling you out.

I don't really see the problem. It only takes a second and not only does it help them stop shoplifters but it will also keep you from leaving anything behind, which does happen sometimes when the place in busy and you're in a rush.

My 2 cents... you acted like an asshole for no reason.

PS. I'm pretty sure they don't do random checks.

Too bad this wasn't you... ROFL

A Cleveland man died last Sunday after a scuffle with security guards at the Walmart Super Center located at 6626 FM1960 in Atascocita.

According to witnesses, Stacy Driver ran out of the store and was pursued by Walmart loss prevention employees. A short time later, Driver was dead, and the Walmart employees were trying to explain the last moments of his life to police.

Charles Portz said he was getting out of his car when he saw a heavy blonde haired man being chased by five people who appeared to be security or store employees. He said he saw them wrestling the man to the ground. "The blacktop was extremely hot," said Portz "He had no shirt on and they wouldn't let him up off the blacktop." He said one of the men had Driver in a chokehold and had his knee in the back of his neck as the men tried to subdue him. "He kept trying to get up and they kept pushing him back down," Portz said.

According to Portz, Driver began to plead with them men. "He's begging, 'Please call an ambulance, let me up, do something, I'm gonna die," said Portz. He said the loss prevention employees called the police more than once, but another bystander called for an ambulance after realizing Driver was in trouble. Portz said he eventually began to plead with the Walmart employees. "I told them, this guy doesn't look like he's breathing," Portz said, "They said, 'He's all right." He says he continued to plead with the men, pointing out that the man's fingernails were turning gray. "They said he's just high on something," adding, "They just kept him pinned down for twenty minutes or more until the ambulance came." He said he believed Driver was dead when the ambulance left with him, but he was not certain.

The store employees could not have known that the witness who was pleading with them to let Driver get up from the hot pavement was a high profile Houston attorney, from the Portz and Portz law firm. He said after the man was handcuffed he continued trying in vain to persuade the Walmart employees to allow him to get up, even pointing out that a second pair of cuffs could be used to attach the ones already on Driver to a nearby truck trailer. "The problem is they kept him down on the blistering concrete with no shirt on," Portz reiterated. He said law enforcement arrived at about the same time as the ambulance.

Detective Robert T. Tonry, with the Homicide Division of the Harris County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death. He confirmed that Driver had struggled with Walmart loss prevention employees before being handcuffed and was not breathing a short time later. Tonry said he was transported to Northeast Medical Center in Humble where he pronounced dead. According to Tonry, some of the items Driver had in his possession which were believed to have been stolen were baby diapers, a BB gun and BBs.

Tonry said he was talking to store employees and would be contacting other witnesses. He said anyone else who might have information should contact the Homicide Division of the Harris County Sheriff's Department.

Driver was the son of H.C. Driver of Cleveland. Pat Driver was his step-mother and her sister Lily was speaking for the family on Monday. "The boy was loved and he might have done something wrong, but he did not deserve that," Lily said, "The family has no other comment at this time. "He would have celebrated his 31st birthday on August 31. Instead, his family is making funeral arrangements. As of this writing, the official cause of death had not been released.

I could go to the bank inside of Walmart, withdraw thousands of dollars, shop in the store for 2 hours, wait on line for 45 minutes checking out with the door greeters (aka makeshift bouncers/rent-a-cops) watching, go into that same store 3 or 4 times a week, and they STILL ask for the receipt on the way out. It's really insulting. I don't go to Walmart that often... but being it's one of the only stores in my area, my mom goes a lot. Their sweatshop labor products and their underpaid, overworked US workers can fuck off.

Walmart is evil.

Costco checks receipts too. Big deal. Don't take everything so personally. Just show the damned receipt next time and don't ruin a min wage girl's day for simply trying to do what she was hired to do.

Some people need to take the stick out of their ass. There are a lot of things in life that we're asked to do that we don't HAVE to do. You don't HAVE to eat your vegetables when your mother asks. You don't HAVE to do MANY things. But as a good citizen, you do it.

As a good corporate citizen, then should simply try to spot shoplifters instead of checking random receipts, or every receipt. Why people dont see how wrong and degrading this "store policy" is, is the most shocking thing.

How about random searches by mall security, any trouble with that? How about random knocks on your door for body cavity searches. As a good citizen, you surely wouldnt object right? Gotta learn to spot the slope at the top man.

your rights? what "rights" are you speaking of?

the right to purchase stuff at walmart? last I checked that wasn't protected in the bill of rights. A walmart employee has EVERY RIGHT to stop you and check your receipt to make sure you didn't stuff something in the bag after you've paid. It's called inventory control and its a FAR cry from harassment.

You people seriously get pissed off about showing someone a simple receipt? Its to help the store prevent theft and shoplifting. Shoplifting may be cool for a 12 year old with no money, but for the rest of us adults that spend thousands of dollars every month... shoplifting hurts. If flashing my receipt to some guy at the door helps keep prices down, I have no problem doing that.

You must feel big and bad telling a person doing their job to fuck off. Ooo, you tough guy!

The reason they can get away with it is that they post a policy in the entrance area to cover their butts - so they dont get sued - as long as you are on their property they have rights covered by their policies which you agree to by entering the store.

On the other hand - if you present a CC for payment they DO NOT have the right to ask for your identification (which they are notable for) and if they try to take that further - you can sue them for privacy violations - and people have done that.

How about random searches by mall security, any trouble with that? How about random knocks on your door for body cavity searches. As a good citizen, you surely wouldnt object right? Gotta learn to spot the slope at the top man.

exactly

As of this writing, the official cause of death had not been released.

exactly.

If they didnt have someone at the door there would be more shoplifting. Shoplifting=prices go up. I would rather show a dumb receipt once in a while rather than pay Target prices.

just my

Yeah, I think it's best to either check everyone or not. Several places check everyone at the door - Fry's, Costco. It's a fact that it reduces shrinkage by a considerable amount. Random checks would be bad business. That being said, I wouldn't want to be a dick to a minimum wage employee - but it would probably affect my desire to be a repeat customer.

for some reason I see a lot of this type of thing in this industry. People make a little money then all of a sudden they think they are better than other people. there are a ton of great people in this biz that I am proud to call friends and associates but there also seems to be a more than average amount of jackholes who've gotten a sense of entitlement just because they make more money than someone else. Wonder why that is?
