MikeVega 08-18-2005 05:08 PM

I think your crazy ... i know that here in NY .most stores have someone at the door to check receipt ... it's not calling you a thief .. the cashiers sometimes miss things ... or charge you for the wrong thing ... you can even leave something behind ... it's there to help loss for the store and keep prices down .. the fact that they get paid min. doesn't make them less of a person .. and give you a right to be rude or make there job harder. a rich white guy decided to put them there ..they have nothing to do with it ... just show them your receipt and stop being an asshole .. :2 cents:

Sorry, should've called her a fat bitch. :1orglaugh

I was just a little mad at her and thats the first thing that I thought of..
min wage meaning she wasn't even the manager or security guard...

I don't think that I'm better than other people ( I know I am, jk), I just think that I have the right to not be stopped after I pay for something..

je_rome 08-18-2005 05:13 PM

I think its really up to consumers if they want to show their reciepts. But personally I wont. My finances are very private and personal.

Your Finances ??? your kidding right ....I don't think your store receipt has anything to do with your finances .. and it's not really your choice ...if it's store policy then you have to or don't shop there ... It's like your looking for conflict ... your too good to give 30 sec of your time ... please your not Donald Trump ....

cool maybe I just misread your first post.

One question. If it was like Costco and she was stopping everyone would you have stopped?

I don't think that I'd stop unless they had flashing lights and a badge.

I dare someone to put their hands on me.. employee, heroic customer etc

IMO they have no right to stop/question me as long as I paid for the items I purchased.

I laughed and said "so what, I paid" and kept walking. Bitch chased me outside then went back in, rOFL.

I encourage everyone to keep walking instead of wasting your time to show some stupid min wage bitch a receipt for something you paid for not even a minute before.

They need some big red paid tags like the grocery stores or something, rofl.

I think you're full of shit :2 cents:

riddler 08-18-2005 05:46 PM

So they cant ask to see reciept when leaving the store or detain you? Well guess what, They can! You are on private fucking properity, Once you step in to a store you have no right of "Illegal Search and Seizure".. They are protecting their assets

"no rights" not NO RIGHTS.. there is limitations to what can and can not be done.. its private store so they can stop and search you if needed to be, They can NOT reach in your pockets, but they can look in your sacks or outside of your clothes frisk you unless you consent to a full search.

Actually that guy is right. I have a friend that used to manage a grocery store and before that he worked as security for another chain department store where he worked to stop shoplifters. If they ask you to stop when you are leaving the store because they suspect you of shoplifting they can actually call the cops and get your arrested. Not that they always would especially in a situation where they ask to see your receipt and you don't stop but they can if they want to.

well the receipt was in my pocket, I had my hands full and wasn't stopping.

Besides being totally rude, it would've been an inconveniance.

btw, I just sent them an e-mail from http://www.walmartfacts.com/talkwithus/contact.aspx

Hi,
I recently made a purchase in a local walmart store. They tried to stop me at the door to check my receipt.

Could you please tell me what gives them the right to stop a paying customer ? Do I have to stop? What will happen if I keep walking to my vehicle?

I think it's totally rude to stop a paying customer to see a receipt after they paid for something. It's about the same as calling them a thief. I feel it's also an invasion of my privacy.

Thanks,
Jason
I'll post back when/if I get a reply.

phogirl69 08-18-2005 06:40 PM

They do that at my local walmart. I'm not the type to make a scene so i show them the receipt but with a pissed off look on my face.

I do find it a bit insulting though, not too much but just a bit. Depends on my mood. If I'm in a good mood I can tolerate it, but if I am in a bad mood it irks me a bit.

So I just give them a dirty look like WTF and move on, no big deal, but I'm not going to refuse and make a scene, that's embarassing.

toddler 08-18-2005 06:55 PM

Dipshit. If you're going to protest someone stomping your 'rights' then why not do it where it counts, and not shop there?

detoxed 08-18-2005 07:00 PM

Everyone should say no to the receipt check. What if you bought something personal and its none of this persons business what it is. Tell the bitch to ask the cashier what you bought and walk out. As long as the alarm isnt going off there is no reason to stop.

demented 08-18-2005 07:05 PM

They usually always ask to see the receipt unless they actually see you walk away from the cashier. I just show it to them and go on my way.. It's usually elderly ladies at the door anyways. They are just doing their job..

Sam's Club Checks every receipt.Big Fuckin deal!maybe some get too involved?you should blame not the store but if they ask you and you just keep walkin that points to (I just took something)How long will it take 2 sec. These stores are big and they are just trying to keep there stuff from leaving the store unpaid for.How bout if you could ask a sponsor let me see your stats to see if they were shaving would'nt you?Yes Big business sucks ,but this is the world we live. All we can do is deal with it and try not to be assholes about it!

The Other Sweetie 08-18-2005 07:21 PM

I don't see what the big deal is. I go to Walmart for certain things and the only time they check receipts is when you have something that's not in a bag or if you set off that damn door alarm. I just keep my receipt in my hand until I get outside. They see me walking toward the door carrying a bag with a receipt in hand and I get a smile and a "Good night" instead of a hassle.

phogirl69 08-18-2005 07:26 PM

Yes, I do that too, i have to hold the freakin' receipt in my hand from the time the cashier gives it to me to the time I walk out the door ...

Sometimes when I'm in a bad mood I can't help it though, I take it personally and feel like they are hassling me (even though they really aren't'). It irritates me and it is very inconvenient.

One time me and my bf got in big fight inside of Walmart and when he walked out he yelled out "FUCK YOU" reeeeealy loud to the Walmart lady, he was loud the whole store could hear it and everyone was looking. I felt bad for the lady but it was funny at the same time. lol He was mad at me and taking it out on her...

If flashing my receipt to some guy at the door helps keep prices down, I have no problem doing that.

You must feel big and bad telling a person doing their job to fuck off. Ooo, you tough guy!

Well said :thumbsup

There is a lot of misguided anger in this thread. Dude, ya need to loosen up and get the stick out of your ass. Might live longer and not have an ulcer at 30.

If a clerk asks you to show a reciept, take the 10 secs and show it, say have a good one and be on your way. If the police pull you over and ask to search your trunk, as long as you dont have a dead body or a kilo of coke in there, what the fuck is the big deal. Let em do their job, say have a good one and be on your way.

Also funny how you kept referring to the clerk as a "bitch" minimum wage bitch, fat bitch. You're very cool.

Its also humorous that you choose to fight your battles of principle over a receipt at WalMart and thats what you send them the email on. Not the fact that they are paying that "minimum wage bitch" below poverty wages and providing her with welfare applications in the break room. You could give a shit about that, just dont hassle me about my private diaper purchase. What an assclown.

I hope you realize you don't have "rights" in wal-mart because it is THEIR store. All the armchair lawyers can go back and do something else because this guy was being an asshole about something so simple as showing a receipt.

If she doesn't like it she can get another shitty job I am sure. It's people willing to do shit like that in the first place that's the problem. I mean it's basically accusing you of stealing something.

I always ignore those receipt checker people. Although maybe next time I'll have to use that show me your boobs and I'll show you my receipt line. :thumbsup

I have less of a problem with this if they do it to everyone. 70 year old grannies on down. Someone picking me out of a crowd to check though.. "Me speaky no englisho" and I'm out of there.

pussyluver 08-18-2005 09:18 PM

Walmart has more video cameras than anyone else in the world for security. Like they need to check the receipt too. That just drives up their cost of doing business. I'm the type to just keep walking.

Doesn't make any sense. Typically they were 10- 20 feet from you and watched you check out. So fuck that shit Usually it's some older person or a lightweight so no big fear factor. If they sent their para-military after me and I lived, well that would be lawsuit time.

stores like Costco have a right 2 check, they are membership, other ones Don't.

atleast that's the law in California.

you can refuse and they can take your memebership away.
