Look what I got my little girl for her very first day of school..

She's starting Head Start next week! She's be 4 on Sept 11th, but the cut off for Pre-K is Sept 1st...and this child is beyond ready for school, lol, so she's going to Head Start! She's thrilled-I bet I'm the only one with tears when she goes, lol.

She's been asking for a backpack, but I know she doesn't really need one for Head Start. Still, I didn't want to rob her of the whole school experience being how she imagines it, at least on the things I *can* control. So I found her a cute little cinch backpack that is small and flat enough to be comfortable even when she is sitting with her back against a chair/seat.



When I showed her the pic (I bought it online for $7 and change!) she said "Oh, Mommy, I like to have that beautiful princess backpack!" but when she says backpack it sounds like packpack, lol.

Every day she asks if it will come in the mail today, lol. I'm so proud of her.

Went to a sidewalk sale yesterday and scored over $150 worth of little girl clothes, (for my 4 yr old) for $13. everything on the racks was $.94 each.
She is so excited to be going to school. She has been practising printing her letters and numbers for months now and she is trying to read, it is so cute.

Yup, we were on our way to the hospital when we heard. I sat in the lobby before they took me up, with about 15 other people, huddled around the tv, and I saw the second plane hit there. I had a C-section, and I remember it took sooooo long for them to get me ready, because everyone was in shock about what happened.
And for the three days in the hospital, (up all crazy hours nursing a newborn and getting checked on myself after surgery, and having nothing on tv but news coverage), I alternated between feeling guilty for being so happy when so many people had lost loved one, and feeling guilty that I had brought a child into this crazy world.
I found out later than my son's little sister from his Dad was born on Sept 11th, too, just a few years earlier. Weird.

I wouldn't have stopped, but they ran out of sale items at that time and they weren't scheduled to restock the racks for 2 hours, and I didn't feel like sticking around.
