Is buying traffic for a free MGP site profitable?

Traffic these days cost $4-8 for 1000hits witch comes out to be $400-$800 for 100,000hits.

With a 50/50 mix of free galleries and hosted galleries can I expect to make a profit? I use only recurring sponsors so I don?t mind breaking even in the first month. When the signups recur that?s when the profits kick in.

I know others will disagree that 'everyone has a place in the market', etc. - but here's my opinion: If the people selling adult traffic could make great money from it, why would they be selling it for $4? It's like a stock broker, if he was "so good", wouldn't he be retired somewhere sitting on a beach doing coke off of the drink girls back?

That said, it's possible you are doing a great job converting and could make money from any traffic... try some cheap traffic from a couple of folks and see where it gets you. http://www.chokertraffic.com/ is a good place to start.

Yeah I know about Choker already.

I just find it so hard to belive its cost $400-$800 for 100,000hits. To me there is no room to make any profit what so ever. I don't understand because there are so many webmasters that buy traffic.

Keeping up on what the newest sites are and what is converting best is a full time job in itself. That could explain why people sell. It's just easier really.

I've blown thousands on traffic before and completely lost my ass. I learned the hard way that it's all about the sites you're promoting and what's hot. Originality is definately going to help you. The site you're promoting has got to stand out. It can't be a cookie cutter of every other site out there.

You also gotta check out the site from which you will receive the traffic and make sure that you are not promoting something that they are already promoting or you will cut your profit in half.

Those are some good points RRRED. I have read alot about buying traffic and many webmasters seem to get burned. I refuse to trade traffic so that I can keep my MGP clean to maximise bookmarkers.

There has got to be a way!

I've found that buying traffic is really only profitable to the person selling the traffic, but your milage could vary.

What about buying 100,000 hits and sending that directly to a join page?

Most conversion ratios are 1:500. That would be 200 sales and now I can start to see how I can make profit from buying traffic but is that realistic?

Why would they sell it to you for $400-800 if it was that easy?

Buying traffic is bad mmmkay ;)

Seriously it all depends on where you send it. I've had some success with buying traffic - nothing huge but a profit none the less.

I imagine that people sell their traffic as they cant be bothered chopping and changing where their traffic goes. Also they are guaranteed a steady income.

What do you mean by this?

100% of bought traffic should be sent to a gal or 100% of the MGP should be 100% gals with no trades?

I am far from a newb so I am sure I got what it takes if its even possible to make a profit by buying traffic. The reason I am asking is because I never bought any traffic before. I am used to free traffic from traffic trades. It sure is easy to make a profit when the traffic is free.. lol
