I'd have to say Communication Major is most worthless.

If you go to school JUST to get the degree, then really most of the majors are useless... if you go to school to study what you are interested in, then none of them are useless...

BlueDesignStudios 01-25-2006 10:00 PM

I don't think it's the degree that's worthless, it's more the type of people who do a particular degree.. i.e. some degrees have students that are more competitive than others

BlueWire 01-25-2006 10:06 PM

I think what is common or easy is not necessarily the most useless.

Communications and general studies are what the jocks get...but these days your BA or BS doesnt matter that much for most fields and you can really argue that Communications gives you some people skills and perspective that are very valuable. General studies at the very least makes you rounded and have a wide knowledge.

I think most BS and BA's are worthless if you actually want to use them towards a specific career path as things are competitive enough (atleast in metro areas) where you need the masters or work experience. So because of this i'd say majors that do nothing but specialize you ...dont enlighten your perspective etc are the most worthless.

I would consider an English degree to be among the most worthless. Sure it sounds accomplished...but welcome to the real world where its really a meaningless piece of crap.

For what? To teach me shit I allready know, just so i can have a peice of paper to get a limited paying job working for someone else?

BAAA!!!

Ahaha good luck with that philosophy. Let's see what your dumbass says 20 years from now when you're broke and still trying to design porn galleries..

Kimmykim 01-25-2006 11:13 PM

English or American literature. If you don't plan to teach, there's nothing more useless for getting a job.

woj 01-25-2006 11:17 PM

50 useless majors...

Hey I take exception to that! Us Sports Management majors work hard! LOL. Actually its amazing how much material they try to spread out to make it a 4 year degree. Rehash and rehash. Women in Sports, Morals and Ethnics in Sports, Principles of Coaching, Sports Management, Admin of Sports, Sport and Society, History of Sports. Goes on and on, and its all the same bs repackaged to try and be different. Less of these classes and more business classes would be ideal.

But still a womens studies degree from anywhere is still better than any degree earned from FSU.

OG LennyT 01-26-2006 12:08 AM

I think its the student that may or may not be worthless, not the specific degree

X37375787 01-26-2006 12:15 AM

Sports & Leisure Studies. Many, many athletes take that. Especially football players.

That is the truth...plus most undergraduate degrees aren't going to get you much of a job without a graduate degree anyway. Go to school to have your brain challenged not just go get a job.

A degree is a degree, as it's already been said. But I'd have to go with University Studies for sure.

communications majors very quite differently from school to school, unlike the more traditional majors.

however, you can do a lot with a communications degree - its becoming more popular to get before law or business school, and a lot of people end up working in the media, advertising, marketing, etc...

its far from the top of the worthless list:2 cents:
