Bush administration objects to .xxx domains

WOW! Bush might not be so stupid afterall.

The Bush administration is objecting to the creation of a .xxx domain, saying it has concerns about a virtual red light district reserved exclusively for Internet pornography.

Michael Gallagher, assistant secretary at the Commerce Department, has asked for a hold to be placed on the contract to run the new top-level domain until the .xxx suffix can receive further scrutiny. The domain was scheduled to receive final approval Tuesday.

You'd be surprised how many democrats introduce and push for these crazy new anti-porn laws. A lot of people in this industry automatically assume its the religious right. Nope.

Um Democrats didn't apply to ICAAN for .XXX to exist. Fact is the religious right would ban porn in a heartbeat if they had the power too and anyone that thinks otherwise is a moron.

Lets face it, neither republicans or democrats want porn anywhere in the US.

Clue: Polititians who are against .xxx are not protecting porn, they don't want to give "legitamacy" to the business.

You are right .... XXX domains would sort of " legitimize " the business, just like the proposed tax ....

Anybody knows what is the name of his Texas Ranch ???? That should give you a good indication....

There we go with the legitimacy argument again, haha. Porn will not be legitimate anytime soon, put your pipe dreams to rest.

Yes, create XXX and suddenly the world will be perfectly fine with porn! Yay!

Oh I wouldn't be surprised if the religious right are the biggest buyers of porn in private but publically and politically they are all opposed to it in some fashion.

Well 2257 "legitimaizes" porn. 2257 is federal regualtion. If porn is not "legitiamte" business then how can it be regualted? Cocaine isn't regulated. Why? Oh because the government does see it as a "legitimate" business.

The sad thing is, that .xxx is the fastest way to get rid of porn. Next to telling visa to pull the plug.

"They" fought the fight with the mags for what - twenty or thirty years? They invested all of their time, effort, and money and what was the end result? All of those mags are still there and still open for business.
