Taking a trip and want to rent a laptop with a wireless internet connection to update my sites. I dont want to use hotel telephone lines.
Do any of you do this when you go away? How fast are the connections? |

Hmm...I used Richochet for a while, but they were stupid and ran out of cash. If anyone is using the same technology as they did, though, you can get up to 128K/s. It depends on your location...how close you are to the receivers, etc.

A friend of mine uses GoAmerica...it's pretty slow, only about 19.2 connection, but I understand it'll get faster soon. He mainly uses it while traveling and for using his PDA...

Where are you travelling? North America, Europe, Asia?
Mobitex has pretty good metropolitan coverage in the United States. Pretty much anything CDPD will get you by in the States, as a matter of fact. If you're going to be out-East, check out Verizon's new 3G system. It offers higher bandwidth at a lower price. Fro |
