I pay the same in Chihuahua. And 50% of what we pay for gas in Mexico is federal tax, the other half of it is the cost of production.

I'm quitting my full time job soon (after all, there's no money in porn)... and I'm looking forward to the $200/month I'll be saving in gas.

No, it's not a ton of money, but hey, I'd rather have it than some oil company.

We have been paying about 2.30$ per gallon, but I think it is going to go up again. I know that in SoCal, it is hard to find it under 2.55$

No, we have different grades of octane available: 87 (cheap crap), 89 (standard), 92, 94 (liquid gold). Where can you get 98?

Wow, Sweden.. I knew it was expensive there, but $6 a litre? That puts things in perspective.

I think you guys in the US and Canada are a bit spoiled. You are used to gas being dirt cheap. The rest of the world (Europe especially) always paid a hell of a lot more. Even with these huge increases in gas prices in the US and Canada ... prices in Europe are still more expensive.

I think we might be forced into buying more euro style cares (Smart Cars are getting good market penetration in Vancouver right now) if our gas hit $5+ a litre. It might be a good thing overall. But it still hurts.

Don't forget they have lots of high cilinder but non-efficient cars that use shitloads of fuel tho ;)

Argh, I'm seen those Smart cars everywhere now. I don't understand why you'd pay so much for a car that uses almost no gas. Just go back 15 years and buy a honda CRX. Not only does the car cost you $3,000 to buy, you'll hardly ever fill it up

That's precisely why I refuse to buy American cars. They have 7 liter V8's that are making 500 hp. I'm sorry, but if you can't at least get 100 hp per liter out of a car, then you suck at engineering.

I can't wait for laws to finally start coming into effect that limit engine size. It's going to be gold seeing the "no replacement for displacement" guys going apeshit when their big bad corvette has a 2 liter turbocharged inline 6

I'm perfectly happy with my 117 hp 1.7 liter honda civic. It gets retarded ammounts of km's per liter, is still 'peppy' enough to merge onto a highway without risking your life, and is built rediculously well. My old Ford Escort on the other hand, stuck with the American concept of "no replacement for displacement". It made lots of torque (for its engine size), but was slow as shit.

Japanese cars for life, for me.

I used to be of the same mind, but my 2002 Cavalier is getting 600kms for a tank, which I worked out to be damn good gas mileage. It's got a lot of get up and go, too. But then, I drive standard. I *make* it get up and go. ;)

Nowadays you can even get 1.4 liter engines with 100 bhp...lol and the diesel ones are also making serious improvement (while maintaining its much less expensive "drinking habbits")

Don't even get me started on for example Mitsubishi's 1.5 engine with a Turbo and 150 bhp

Anyway lets not even forget that most american cars are not only inferior motor wise but in corners and quality...well

Well it depends on the way you drive also not only the engine+car itself ;)

how big is that deposit tho?
