That first car of mine was really crap

so what did you drive?

67 Chevrolet Caprice, 283ci V8, Powerglide automatic. Bought it off my Grandfather in 1976. It wasn't a bad car, had been perfectly maintained and it was immaculate. Right up to the point when I loaned it to my older sister and she totalled it one afternoon. :Oh crap

It was like this except Gold with Black vinyl top. Damn check the length of that thing compared to today's cars!!! :1orglaugh

Not my Chevelle.

Back then you could work on your car.... engines were engines.

Nowadays you need a 5 year degree in forensic science to change the oil.

79 Chevy Silverado with 454ci and cam, roller kit, lowered 4inches, 3.73 gears, hooker headers / magna flow exhaust, boyd rims

And back then you could actually SEE the engine when you lifted the hood, and not today's usual "basket of snakes". :winkwink:

Your Caprice was a lot like the old 67 Chrysler Newport I first drove after getting my license.

It was a lime green battle wagon of a car with a 383. (non-magnum)

I once drove 13 friends up to the beach in it (2 idiots in the trunk)

Damn good times.

webcrawler 08-11-2005 01:54 AM

haven't got one yet. But had driven a honda sedan and ford suv.

now I know why you guys in here are such assholes... most of you are spoiled haha.
Mine was a 79 dodge van, I was like 14 when it was given to me. It sat outside my neighbors house.. I had my home stereo in it and slept in there cause I could bring all the neighborhood hoes in at night, smoke whatevr. one day these black girls broke in and stole the stereo... ruined my day. The van was towed away before I was old enough to drive.

DJ Reno 08-11-2005 03:39 AM

my first car was an old vw polo, build in 1979, i bought it for 50 euros and a box of beer :-) it had 45 hp and of course it was not in a good shape, like you see it on the picture...

2257-Ben 08-11-2005 04:16 AM

1961 Ford Country Squire Wagon with 3 speed manual on the column. My Dad gave it to me.

But the first NEW car I ever bought was an 89 Dodge Spirit 5 speed manual.
I loved that car, and when my Dad saw it he cried because he had never had a new car in his life and he wondered how in the heck I was going to pay for it.

NickRac 08-11-2005 04:45 AM

2001 BMW X5 - got it used 3 days after I got my license...I have since upgraded to a 2005 545i

Trans Am. I got it brand new for my 16th birthday. Later, one of my girlfriends totaled it and got a DUI, lol.

Basic_man 08-11-2005 06:40 AM

Since I'm still young, it was a Ford Tempo 89 blue sky :D

XxXotic 08-11-2005 06:40 AM

1988 Dodge Raider (mitsubishi montero basically), got it my sophomore year, 1990

Herb Kornfield 08-11-2005 06:48 AM

In order....

1979 Chevy Malibu - Got that summer of 93 for $200 from a friend. Sold it to another freind for $300 a few months later.

1986 Ford Escort - Got that a month after the Malibu for $1k from a chick I worked with, it was her grandpop's car. He just died and they wanted to sell it. It was a really nice ride until I totalled it a few months later on ice....

1990 Ford Thunderbird - Got that after destroying the Escort for $7800. drove that until 1997 when it was taken out by a drunk driver.

1997 Ford Thunderbird LX - My 1st new car. Totally loved it, Midnight blue with a moonroof, nice rims, kick ass engine. Met my wife by having that car. She saw it and figured I must make some cash, lol....

2000 - Sold the 97 Tbird and bought a Duranno R/T that has a 5.9 V-8 Magnum. All black interior and exterior. Just added some Goodyear Forterra tires ( kevlar laced ) This is my main truck to this day.

2000 - same day as the Durnago we bought a 1995 Jeep wrangler. Fucking nightmare of a truck but the wife wanted it. Was a lemon and had for 1 year...

2001 - Bought a brand new 2001 Jeep Liberty Limited - fully loaded and custom stuff from the factory added when we ordered it. Sold it 3 years later since white interior is a very bad idea

2004 - Brand new Jeep Wrangler sport soft top with 17 inch wheel kit. This one is a keeper, the wife's ride and she adores it more than any other car we had so far.

Next up - Looking for a vintage Mercedes convertible
