What a strange business we all work in. The corporate monster known as "adult". There are many hard working, honest, good people in this line of work, believe it or not. Then there are the extremes. The folks who give Diane Sawyer something to talk about.

Working daily in this career, you tend to forget about real life and the mainstream world. Better yet, you find yourself getting bitter towards the folks outside this business, almost as a defense mechanism.

But are those folks so far off? Lets face it, we all profit from the act of selling flesh. Live humans who do intimate, personal, sexual acts with other humans that they may or may not know very well.

We accept casual conversation about contracting STDs. Comments like, "Oh damn, I guess I was exposed. Better get on the meds." When we know damn well, before this biz, if a boyfriend, one nighter, whatever gave us some disease, we'd be freakin' out!

We applaud and award "Best Blow Jobs" and "Best Anal" and random other terms that we were scared to say out loud in high school.

We see many people with level heads, make adult decisions and choose to participate in this business because they enjoy it or feel that this is the only thing they can do. But we also see, and accept, many porn stars, directors, production company owners, etc., strung out on drugs, booze many slowly but surely sink into a deep, dark place that even a good therapist couldn't rescue them from. We see attractive, motivated, perfectly proportioned girl next door types turn into angry, crack head looking street whores.

Again...not EVERYONE, in fact, it's probably safe to say not even the majority. But MANY of the folks in this business DO hit a wall, which eventually leads to a hill, which eventually leads to them laying at the bottom of the mountain lookin' around, dazed and confused.

There are figure heads in the industry that care about the people involved here. Some publicly with gifts of Teddy Bears and some offering coping classes, while others a bit unsung, privately offering counsel. Then there's the loathing scum bag types who seem to get off on not only screwing someone over, but making it as filthy, nasty and degrading as possible.

The scary thing is, much of the talent buys into it. I can't tell you how many times an excited, beautiful 18-20 year old came running up to me to say, "Wankus...I did my first DP [Double Penetration] today!" I wonder if she dreamed about this day back in grade school while brushing her Barbie's hair.

It's a twisted world my friends. I'm a slightly twisted guy, so I can handle it. But once in a while, days like today, I wake up and think..."This is just fuckin' weird!"
