but then it's not really a fair question. Curry comes in a huge amount of variations whereas chilli has very little variation.

That said - there's more North Americans picked curry than I'd have expected given how common chilli is there and how hard it can be to get a good curry.

You answered your own question. Chilli is common here and it's hard to find a good curry, so when you do find one it leaves an impression. :winkwink:

I'm lucky enough to be married to a woman who grew up in a house next to immigrants from the Goa area of india. Her mother and the matriarch of the neighbor household were good friends, and in the process she learned a lot of the double super duper secret curry creation techniques. My tongue has never been happier. :thumbsup

And onion scones... a slice of onion sandwiched between two slices of potato, coated in batter and deep fried. Along with mushy peas they were a staple of Lancashire and Yorkshire chip "oyles" when I was a kid.

It's not the same, but from a site called Goodwoods I get Batchelors Mushy Peas along with Bisto Gravy Granules (yes and Curry Sauce granules for putting on chips, oops, french fries), Hob Nobs, McVitie Digestives and a few other reminders of home.
