Hey man...if I could do that all day every day get my aces all in against pocket 5's I would be a happy man.
Now here is where the idiots who play poker thinking they make good calls with pocket 5's just might learn something. You're a 4:1 dog up against a big pair like Aces. They are an 80% favorite preflop...so let's just for the sake of argument each throw in $50,000 into the middle of the table to represent a "lifetime" of playing this hand over and over. I take and keep $80K, you get $20K. Still like your call? |

I never go all in anymore based only on the pocket. It all depends on positioning of course, but in most cases, if you think there will be 2-4 guys still in, don't do it (this is playing on 10 person NL tables)
If you are up against only one guy, then sure, your odds are much better and most times he should fold as well. Anyhow I haven't played much online anymore, found playing in real life much more enjoyable. Hit the tables here every Friday for 1-2 hours: $1/2 No Limit Texas Hold'em I buy-in with $200, usually walk out with a few extra hudnred profit. Over past 4 weeks, I've taken away close to $2000...not bad while having a lot more fun than I do online.
