There will delays at Toronto airport today. Plane crash.

Anyone flying out of Pearson today will have delays. A plane went off the runway and is on fire.

No it was a Luftansa (sp?) plane, so probably headed to Europe. Although I've heard it was taking off and aborted causing the crash followed shortly after by it was landing and crashed.

Yeah, CNN keeps saying it's an Air France Plane. It's a big plane, possibly a wide body which would lend credibility to it being a trans atlantic flight.

The plane never came to a stop, it slid off the runway with some force and burst in to flames when it crashed.

Most likely, everyone on board is dead.

If your wondering why it's doesn't look like all the trucks are attacking the fire it's because the planes in a ravine. My friends and I used too off road down there when we lived just south of the plane crash. There are steep cliffs and dense trees. It would be almost impossible to get the fire gear close to the plane. It would be damn tough for the people onboard to get off if it's on a steep bank or cliff.

The other side of the highway in the images is a great place to off road too and sit and watch the planes take off; done it many times.

Hopefully most of the people managed to get off.

There's nothing to be very optimistic about.

I'm watching in on CNN, the Plane is engulfed in flames. Experienced pilots are giving their opinions on what may have happened and they all seem to agree that it's unlikely anybody lived. This is not the kind of accident like a pilot landing a plane with an engine on fire, but being able to glide in and come to a stop.

Let's hope these guys are wrong though.

Eye Witness report (Paraphrased by me):

The plane landed on the runway and it looked normal. All of a sudden you heard his Engines come on strong and he just went off the end of the runway onto the grass and in to the ravine. We were about to run over towards the plane, because you know one crashed there before and nothing happened, but it burst in to flames within seconds.

Someone is reporting that a "a few survivors" were taken to local hospitals. Unknown if these people were on the plane or just in the vicinity of the crash.

All the news reports are now saying that ppl were transported to the hospitals, including maybe the pilots, so it sounds like survivors. Thatis some good news out of this tragedy. I hope there was enough delay between flames and evactuation to save everyone.

Yeah it sounds like it may have been better than it looked. There were actual fireballs coming out of the plane at one point

Yeah there's a passenger on CNN now. Apparently the flight did come to a stop and earlier reports about immediate fire were wrong. Good news!
