ChargeMeLater ? Huge fraud possibility ?

Basically it seems like it's a system that allows someone 10 days before they have to pay, meanwhile they have full access to your site / service / product / information.

Doesn't anyone else think that's just asking for people to try to get 10 days free?

On their website they say it's Safe - how so?... What safeguards are there? Do they pay you for the membership if the person doesn't, and try to go after the person as a collection's agency themselves?

Their site only really tries to sell themselves as an alternate billing solution / different way of billing, but it doesn't explain anything more than that... just mostly shows statistics stating how offering more ways to bill increases sales.. conventional ways anyhow.

Matt

Oh, they also say they don't collect any personal information from the person (so it's easy for them), how are they going to try to collect from them or even know who they are if they don't collect personal information? Even an email, you can't sue someone through an email, they can simply ignore it forever; unless they could get a court order for each person's email for the ISP to release the person's personal information, so then they can go after them....

Am I making sense?

Matt

From what I understand, the website owner gets paid no mater if ChargeMeLater gets the money from the customer or not. That is why they charge such high fees.

Ah... well, basically, you would never offer it as your first processor, and would only offer it after 5 other cascading billings failed.. meaning the person likely has 0 creditibility, and the chance of them paying is low...

But then I want to ask myself.. why would you want someone like that on your site or as a member? Because you make more money I suppose.. but they're just going to download everything, and cost you more than the average member..

Watching their Flash presentation.. Customer's POV ... It says you must call them from your home phone; so you're technically giving them all of your personal information.. they're just lying to the customer ... have a phone number (it likely can't be ID Restricted or they'll deny you) then they have your name, address, etc..

So great, just call from a friend's house, or when you're at a party call.. bad gimmic? I don't know..

I'd never try it myself.. If someone that desperately wants to become a member, they can save up and send me cash...

OH - I found how they make it work..

"Silver Program - You will earn $6.00 guaranteed per successful CML sign up for one month access to your content for your subscribers. Your client will be charged $29.99 for their monthly subscription to your site and content. "

"Gold Program - You will earn $18.00 guaranteed per successful CML sign up for three months access to your content. Your client will be charged $89.99 for their quarterly subscription to your site and content."

From the http://www.chargemelater.com/merchant/HOWMUCH.htm page..

So they're pretty much expecting people not to pay.. and only pay you $6 out of $29.95 charge.. that's a pretty low %.. heh..

The kicker is... if your site is worth $29.95 to join... and the person is likely to download all of your content / likely fully exclusive content or a fair amount, then a fair portion of the $6 will go towards bandwidth; not like bandwidth is expensive anymore.. but still.. I'm sure some people will use it who don't put thought into it...

I'd rather just as my last option send them to a page that says.. "Send cash to this address with your current email address, and we will email you a password and username."

LOL.. Isn't it fantastic? I wish you could do that with all businesses... I wonder what amount of clients using your service you'd get... it's almost like a proactive repossesion service / collection's agency.. heh.
