I had good times in high school, but prefer leaving it the time capsule. This would be my 15 year reunion if they actually had one. I know what you mean about the old friends.

When I left h.s. I prolly kept in touch with a good oh... 7-10. But then after I got back from college, they, and I noticed I had changed. I had little in common anymore with some of them, and they were still caught up in 1990. They honestly had just not changed at all. So I cut most of them loose.

I still have two good friends I've known since grade school I golf, play pool and hang out with from back in the days. I have anther who I rarely talk to, and when I do all he talks about is the past. Luckily I do not hear from him much, and when he does call, I generally dodge him. So I mainly get his rhymes, and riddles about the days of old.

While h.s. was a fun time, and I had no real grief, I wouldn't nessesarily NOT go back and live it again, but I definately like the journey's my life's taken since. I would not say those were the best years of my life, as I can think of a hundred other things, places I've been, and experiences since that I have enjoyed. College was anther hoot, and a lot of fun, but I don't think I'd wanna go back and live it again.

All that being said, I always crack a grimmace when I hear people talking about h.s. as the time of your life, and that quote from Varisty Blues were everything was about h.s. football (which I played) and being heros, and blah blah. Sad some people actually think like that.

Went to my first, meaning the first one I attended, high school reunion two years ago. Nothing changed among the smart asses. They immediately gravitated to each other at the dinner. I did not enjoy high school at all, other than when the Four Preps did their two albums at our school. I was happy to see that several average students had become very successful on their own instead of riding the coattails of their mother or father. SEveral were able to retire in Hawaii. But, I shall not attend another. They are not for socializing, they are for bragging rights as to who owns the hottest car and the biggest house! And I was very surprized to learn how many had died! I.E. Viet Nam, heart failure, suicide!

High school was a great time in my life. I spent two years in high school in my hometown in NJ, and then two years in Canada and Massachusettes. I ended up graduating early, and arrived in my dress blues as a US Marine for my high school graduation from my original class in NJ.

But I think the Marines was the best four years of my life.

Keep in mind that your friends are all in different stages of their lives, depending on how old they are. It seems most of my old high school friends are losers who stayed in the general area; Few did well and most are single parents one way or another.

Sounds pretty similar to me. One of those kids with natural ability that hated the learning experience because it was totally uninteresting and ended up bored.. I didn't so much hate the time though because really aside from the immense frustration of schooling.. having no responsibility and finding out things for the first time - sex, drugs etc was a fun period. I look back on that time of my life with great fondness, but more for the extra-curricular activities.

Although I must add my closest friends are still from high school which appears to be at odds with a lot of people's experiences. I only did a 2 year degree at college then 4 years at a large company before working for myself - not enough time especially compared to such a formative setting to challenge the ties i made with several people in highschool.

However I sure as fuck wouldn't want to go back to being that person and doing those things for the rest of my life.

My 4 years in High school was the definitely the best for me.
The Sportsfest, the girls, the faculties, everything. It's something that you won't forget wherever your future leads you.

Highschool for me wasn't the best years of my life though it has memorable memories, yeah it's really good to see all your classmates way back then and something has change, we can't deny the fact that others are in success and others are not... Reminisce memories is really good when someone do remembers it all...

And for me during my college days was the best years of my life, I have learned to be bad and to be good person ("trying")... matter of surviving and live...

Highschool was only 3 years for me and it was fun for the most part. My 4 years in university however were the best 4 years of my life!

High school and college for that matter were long, boring streteches of torture for me. If those were the best times of my life, I would kill myself right now. If only knew then what I know now! I am having the best times of my life now in my thirties.

I went to a school reunion last year, for the guys it was a my house is bigger than yours expericence. But when I looked at the girls there was a real pattern, those that were good looking, popular at school had all married locally had the most boring lives and had never done a thing, it was the ulgy chicks and the quiet ones who had totally transformed. With the guys, there lives were pre written at 18, but girls can go anywhere it seems.

Wow, I've never been there before. It's a really busy board and it even costs $10 to be able to post. How does a board like that get so big?

First time I've heard of it but just checked it out, seems like a cool board. Pretty funny coincidence about the threads though. I actually thought of this topic after reading a thread by AaronM.

Now, 3 years later, I'm doing much better. Next months bills are covered. Unexpected expenses don't upset me. I don't have to call my parents asking for a loan. I buy things when I want them or deem them a reasonable expense, I don't have to "save up". And now those same friends that were asking me why I worked so often have been distancing themselves from me due to jealousy. They see something new in my house and say "must be nice to be able to throw money around like that", which to me is actually insulting, but whatever.

I look at middle aged working the check-out line at the grocery store and shake my head because I just don't understand it. I don't understand the lack of desire for a better life. I don't understand what its like not to be willing to sacrifice for today to get a better tomorrow. But thats just me, if other people choose to live their life that way, I really don't care. Its their choice.

And enough ranting for now... :-)
Is money all you care about? Is it all you have in your life? Is it all you think about?
