Who will be the first to make a invite-only convention with a twist

.. the twist being that the sponsors payed everything.
They will send you a airfair ticket, hotel booking, taxi-fair and a Epassporte visa with $250-$1000 on it.

Its like that in the mainstream bussiness.
HP, IBM and Raidtec have all send me on Paid seminars with airfair, food and spendingcash included... when will adult programs do the same?

If someone send me the money, airfair and hotelroom, I'll be on the first flight to miami tonight - I'll hire someone to do updates while im gone

Then I would go :-)

im not here to cockfight

and NO I dont think yours is serious.

Dont want sponsors waste money on luxary.

I want sponsors to invite 50-100 fulltime trustworthy webmasters, and use their join'ed knowledge and idea's to develop their programs further.

No strippers, no official partys, no "talent" - only bussiness

I could be wrong, but didn't Lightspeed do something this a couple of years ago?

Wasn't a "Convention" but a gathering of all of their top webmasters.

I would never go to a invite-only conventions where you were invited... unless you were taped to the floor, and we could take turns kicking the shit our of you... that is how much I hate your presence online, the shit you sling, and people you cheat

Fuck yeah, this would be a GREAT idea, if the sponsors would actually consider this as a good investment. Not all are think that much long-term...

We flew our top 20 webmasters and some industry friends into Phoenix for a wild weekend of partying and networking: http://www.klixxx.com/archive/lightspeedweekend.shtml

But I disagree about the idea of "No strippers, no official partys, no "talent" - only bussiness" --- if you make the event into a sausagefest, no one will want to attend again.

We haven't done it again, because as much fun as it was, it wasn't worth the expense. Most of the webmasters we invited have either quit the biz, changed companies, lost their traffic, or moved their traffic to another sponsor eventually.

The only way this idea makes sense is to make an event for company owners only, and then it makes more sense to do 1 on 1 private meetings.

my 2 cents

Out of curiousity -- if a sponsor went all out, and spent thousands of dollars on you, would you feel obligated to send them most of your traffic? For how long? What if another sponsor converts your traffic better?

exactly... you also can't compare adult and mainstream here
those are two leagues... even moneywise

i doubt that a program would have a problem paying your airfare, hotel,... if you earn them good cash...didn't hahaha do the same to the iwebmaster clients with 3 or more active workers?

Seriously man, I'm a backwards thinker when it comes to this.

If a sponsor converts well for me and they pay me $35 per trial or whatever recurring, WHY the hell should THEY pay for me to take a trip? I should be able to afford it.

It's a mutually beneficial relationship. We're both making each other money.

When I see a sponsor who I make money with, I'm usually the first one to pull out my wallet and by THEM a drink (The ones that aren't behind in payments that is ).

I can se why it's not a good thing to do, if its one company alone behind it.

I can give you a good example of a case where it worked

2 years ago raidtec invited me and about 40 other storrage people to a resort on cork(ireland), with about 20 people from Axis (IP-cams) and about 20 or so from Cisco.

what happend at that meeting?
1 -Look at who have the biggest share of public CCTV cams in london.. a lot of it is stored on Plasmo/Raidtec system

2 - Raidtec had got a documented approach to solve the online-videoediting via. tcp problem

The idea is not to take only top webmasters, but remember the small people that have the vision, and dare to develope new solutions.

The convention should not be a "lets just meet and make stuff up"
there shuld be a plan behind it - and i still think it would be profitable.

... and about the "sausagefest" thing - I think you are wrong. I dont care if people want to party after the meetings, but leave the naked girls to the surfers, its a wast of proffesional webmasters time if you ask me

If the sponsor dont see it as a chance to develope new idea's for their program, then I can se why you dont like the idea.

It's been done a couple times before, Lightspeed had a top webmaster party for their affiliates, TrafficCashGold as well and I imagine a few other sponsors have done similiar type offers as a reward for their top affiliates.

The sponsor's dont even have to pick people that use them. I think that it would be good to have people that DONT use them as well. those who dont use them have i reason not to - if you dont have critics, its hard to develope a program further

yes, but it should not be used as a reward. It would be people from Hosting, design, programming, investors, adverticers.. all groups together

Exactly why you may never see this happen. They want to party and have a good time. But that is also the reason that I dont really like the shows. Everyone is drunk or high when you try to talk to them. Not worth wasting my time or money!

the drunk and high people are not the guys/girls im looking for.
I want people that are 100% focused on bussines, the rest is like i said, waste of time.

Attend CeBit in europe - then you know the kind of people I talk about.
Yes there are people there just for the free pens and food, but when you get invited behind the scene, you know why that show is big. You have the biggest guys from Sony and panasonic, sitting at the same table with small developers discussing the future of the broadcast industry... and most of the people there: Yes - invited, shipped in free
