25% Porn Tax: Will you move offshore?

If the 25% excise tax passes for all american adult companies, would this be enough to prompt you to finally move your american operations "offshore"?

Wouldn't you also have to move yourself offshore? (if you're a US citizen)

dont believe what you read here CD

The lawyers on the 2257 issue are having a vested interest in the " dont go offshore it offers no protection " line of thinking

I mean seriously ask yourself how the Oil companies, the telecom companies
Banking ( ever hear of the world bank?) and many other BIG industrys have for many years provided all those in the know a way to earn and keep their money in industries like these offshore?

do you think the outsourcing craze is paying taxes in amer4ica to the workers over seas it employs? what happens to that extra revenue earned by those mega comglerates like Nike that produce 90% of their merchandise outside of the USA? does it get invested in the USA? or does it stay in other countries? when you are in that country doing business you can always spend the money you earned in that country .

you bet your ass, there is no way in hell I would ever pay the goverment as much money as 25% would be - on top of federal taxes...shit.... I did the math the other day and it would be cheaper for me to move myself and my horses and all my stuff to the bahamas and to board them at a boarding stable there. the boarding stable is 900$ per month per horse - and this does not come close to what I would be spending on the 25% tax. I wont even pay 10% tax. when its cheaper for me to move then pay the tax thats what will happen.

I love taxes. It is comforting to know that the tax money i pay goes to the pockets of those that don't deserve it.

By the way Im not paying the tax my members will, its like sales tax you dont pay it for your customers. If your site is unique , it would be hard to get. If its like everyone else then you could see a slow down. Also if this happens it pretty much neuters .xxx

ya but the problem with that is as your charging your members more for a membership, your income goes up thus your tax goes up.
its a no win.

how you pay those taxes and on what amounts are taxed I doubt will be an option, it all depends on how its written (if it happens at all), still, 25% of anything is allot of damn money, more then I am willing to give.

There is a big difference in companies that have branches completely managed overseas and someone moving their porn site hosting offshore to avoid US laws while continuing to run everything from and collect checks at their same perch in the US (while likely using the same rationale to not pay any income tax to the US). If you think that you won't get nabbed for money laundering, good luck, maybe you won't be caught.

I don't know of any company that pays taxes to workers, but if you think companies in the US don't pay taxes on the income that comes to them from other countries you need to do bit more research on your gameplan. People outsource to pay cheap labor. Of course some industries/companies get sweetheart deals through legislation, but I don't see it happening for porn anytime soon.

As long as that money being spent includes your food and lodging in the country you earned it in you'll probably be fine. Just be in their country legally... and pay whatever their taxes may be

The answer is... if this insanity should actually pass, is that the industry adopt the practice of clearly labeling on the customer invoice such as:

US Government porn tax 25% - $___

If that doesn't affect them at the ballot box then they won't care when it's US Government porn tax 50%

I am glad I have my operation offshore. The nice thing is that I do not pay taxes on income created outside this country. No wonder why 98% of sportsbooks are here.

Actually how it works is you pay federal taxes as an american living abroad, since the company is not an american company anymore you do not pay the 25% sin tax. your not ducking federal taxes, you still pay them, your just not an american company.

Ok it's a proposed tax on the TRANSACTION like a sales tax. If you are using American processing and perhaps even if you're not but still using Visa and selling to American( depends on what kind of pressure this bill puts on Visa ) then this tax will be added to the TRANSACTION. Does anyone not READ these thngs when they come out? No show me how you avioid this by going offshore?

Actually from what I read its on all adult websites , not usa only . Its not just a tax its the age verification to protect children. Now the way that works is if your not in the usa they wont go after you but your put on a list
so you cant come into the country. If you do you are arrested, my lawyer told me about a guy who got a letter from the german government that his site was in violation of their adult laws. They have not come to America to get him but he can never go visit germany because he will be arrested.
