Automatic versus Quartz

Lol, waht have you been doing with your watches to make them torn faster...watches are very important in everyday life and a luxury as well..problem with quartz watch is you cannot keep them for a long time if you decide to buy a new one (collection maybe)since, you have to replace the battery everynow and then or else... if you leave the timepiece empty after sometime the little machine won't work..much worse leave the empty battery inside.(leakage), tried and tested my dear..hehehe... I used to have the Geneve necklace (pendant watch),unfortunately my sister is such a menace.(yeah that bitch lol) and the Jaz watch with leather straps..works really good! swatch watches are okay tho, I got my chrono piece ..doesn't work anymore (quartz) Guess waterpro is working really great for everyday use :thumbsup MOvado is good unfortunately i Don't have one but my Aunt does hehe..so probably I'd take Patek Phillippe(spell?)very nice time piece.

Lesson number one is understanding what makes these things tick . . . literally. When shopping for a luxury watch, it is important to know the difference between an automatic watch (without batteries) and a quartz watch (with batteries). The automatic watch functions as a result of the physical movement of the wearer?s wrist. Thus, if an automatic watch is not worn and is stationary for a prolonged period of time, the watch will stop ticking. A simple shake of the watch will put time back in motion.

A quartz watch works off of battery power. Generally, automatic watches are more expensive than quartz watches because precise engineering is required to produce mechanical functionality. Another statistic -- nine out of ten women?s watches are quartz because women are generally less interested in the automatic movement of the watch and are more interested in the style.I must say, you girl got a trump tight watch (TAG)one of my fave!

Ummm... No. I wish.

There's no way I'd really buy this watch. Even if I were a billionaire, the price of this watch is simply ridiculous.. starting at around ......................get this........... $105,000.00.

Check it out: http://www.luxist.com/entry/1234000967038547/

There are a lot of other things more important in life than a watch that cost over $100k.

But it is beautiful. And if someone gave it to me, I'd wear it!

well that's what you think... everyone is deceived with what they see. all of you think an automatic is better than quartz well you're WRONG!

yes batteries will surely leak ONLY WHEN you take it for granted. that is not the manufacturer's fault...that's neglegence. automatic movement are too sensitive & they are one of the most complicated machine. it's hard to explain, im not a watch technician...but trust me i know better :winkwink:

How do you tell the exact time with a Movado?

*sigh* style over function...
