The F1 cars don't sell at a premium, they sell at a discount Brad. You did well with the lease for sure, but you sound like a neophyte when it comes to F-car resale (no offense intended, please don't take it the wrong way).
Once the F1-tranny cars come off warranty, they take a massive depreciation hit due to the cost to maintain the system. Clutches go every 8-12k miles and cost approximately $6k to replace. This doesn't include actual mechanical failure of the Magnetti Marelli autobox itself, which is just as costly. Plus, since as you noted manual tranny cars only make up 10% of the market, they enjoy a slower rate of depreciation due to demand from hardcore buyers. Good luck with the sale, prove me wrong by selling that 2000 for $100k or more. I predict you'll wind up moving it in the low-90s. |

Low 90's? I was offered $100 from a local wholesaler before I bought out the lease.

blur out the plate for gods sake!!
|
Yeah, blur out the plate or we will all do... something... I just haven't figured out what we are going to do with the number...
Especially since we have the VIN which is as good as the plate... hmmm |

Interstingly it doesn't seem to apply to the Spyders, which despite also being under attack by the pending F430 Spyder have seen very little depreciation so far. |

For US$110k here in Brazil you can't even buy a BMW 5-series....

don't knock the neon, thats was my first car :winkwink: and yes they can go over 120 mph... . I don't care how much money I make, i will never spend over 50K for a car/truck etc.. Even my H2, i got it below invoice and wrote it off, so in the end I only paid about 35K after tax deductions. I would say cars are the worst investments but they are not really an investment, its just an expense :2 cents: i would rather invest 100K on something that will make me back 20K a year not lose 20K a year in value. :1orglaugh |
Damn, someone just out bid me!

thats not a bad way to go if you are buying an expense. I always borrow even if i can pay cash when it comes to secure investments. Better to use the banks money and tie up theirs not mine, pay them 6% interest and make 12% on the investment. Nice when you make 6% off of the banks money and you dont have to use your own. |

Yeah i agree, I plan to be a happy retired 30 something year old. I'm 29 now, have been at this for over 6 years. Going to hit it hard for 5 - 6 more then only work if /when i want to and live well off my investments. I get the you can't take it with you comments all the time. I rather take my chances that I don't die the next couple years so I can the retire and really enjoy life while I am still young. But even then I don't think I would buy a 50k+ car ;) Live for today would be fun. I could go pay cash for Brad's car, buy nice boats and shit, but then if my income dissapears i have to sell everything and eventualy get a job at walmart and work there till I am in my 70's and then evetual die lol. My advice to everyone, bust your ass for 10 years and then really enjoy life for your last 50 years. Let your investmenst buy you new cars and stuff. Let your money work for you and make you more money so you don't have to work, etc... The alternative is to make it and spend it as fast as you can and blow it and have always have to work 50+ years just so you can retire and live modest those last 10 years of you life. I prefer option #1 ;) |
Sweet looking car..should have no problem getting what you want

Wiseman really wants it!!?? Hahaha.

Auction may end early, had an offer for $110k. Just need to ponder it.
|
Nice car Brad. I'm familier with the fact when you own a rare new car, after delivery, you're able to get more for the car than what you originally paid for it. I get to attached to mine so I couldn't think of selling mine.
|
For all you haters, Bradley got the automatic so I could drive it. No, I cant drive a stick. I am cute instead, so sue me.
|
A Ferrari with a automatic gearbox...wtf is the world coming to....

I just can't help but laugh at you "purists" that think the paddle shifter isn't just as fun or effective. It's possible some of you have tried them but I bet most haven't. I think the paddle shifting on the 360 Modena is pretty cool. See, funny thing is, when you have money you can just get what ever the fuck you want. The idea that you can get a car like that, one of the worlds best performing sports cars, even if you don't like manual stick shifting is proof of that. I don't think I'll ever buy a stick shift. My last car wasn't that nice.. but it was an exotic with a tiptronic, and that was quite fun and high performance.
Besides, getting a BJ while driving a stick shift is a hazzard. Brad |
