It didn't always used to be that way, but this board has really gone downhill with some of the clowns who flood the political threads with hateful nonsense. I'm working on beefing up my ignore list so I can focus more on people who prefer to discuss things intelligently. If you think I've never debated someone here clearly you've missed a lot of my threads. BTW, was I correct or incorrect in what I assumed about you? Change those two things and you will start seeing the world in a much different light. |
Anything can be turned into an opinion!....
According to you: Canada is cold - This is a fact...right what if I live in North Pole or Greenland, and I say canada is warm?? oh wow! it becomes an opinion... it's still not true that Canada is a warm Country.... now according to me: Canada is useful because it provides US with natural ressources... So when Ann Coulter say that Canada is useless...sure it can be her opinion...still doesnt make it true... That was my only point... You say it's her opinion?? ok sure i'll give you that....I still say it's false...and I still say that Ann Coulter is a dumb bitch... Now you can keep arguing about if what she said was an opinion or whatever...I don't care..my only point was that, what she said was false...it can be easily proven that Canada is not useless... |

Now HERE we finally agree. Canada has it's uses... Labatts, Strippers, Pretty scenery while drving to Alaska :winkwink: |

For example I just put down the WSJ, to which I have a daily subscription. I also watch Fox News, but I'll admit that it's purely for it's comedic value. I don't have a preconceived view of everything, I don't have an ideology that forces me to tune out all other points of view, I take in all the information available to me and form an opinion. Sometimes those opinions change as new information becomes available. I'll listen to anything reasonable. |
hah well he's sorta correct.. not alot of snow on the west coast tho.

i like canada

I guess in terms of being able to manipulate and subvert, he does have some skill. But his skills were never learned (sp) per se, in fact I'm pretty sure he wasn't able to finish college (yet he now lectures wtf?) disclaimer - degree does not = intelligence. He slanders and spreads lies. He has done some pretty unethical shit, if he was smart, he would be able to pull off the same shit without being sleazy. Just my opinion :2 cents: u have any canditdates for the 'dumb bitch' commemorative coin? :winkwink: yes i see it coming... |

"Canada's average temperature is 14°C" is a fact "Canada is cold" is an opinion (cold being relative here) again: "Canada's land acreage is 9 093 507km2" is a fact "Canada is big" is an opinion who's the idiot again? |

...big is still relative...just like cold is.... let's just say that "canada is big" is an opinion that most people will agree with! ;) |
ex: you can say:
Earth is big.... it's an opinion...earth is small compared to the sun or jupiter.... Earth's circumference 24,902 mi >> That's a fact... |

Bahhhh most Canadians are whiners and take everything so personally and apologize for everything.
Sorry if this offended anyone ;) lol |

If you want to turn "Canada is big" into a fact you could say: "Canada is bigger than Brazil"...that would be a fact... as to the current thread: "Canada is useless" well I guess I'll admit sperbonzo was right...it is her opinion...still it can be easily verified that canada isn't useless...(and again...it all depends what you mean by useless) But considering Canada is US's top trading partner, it's like an affiliate program saying their number 1 affiliate is "useless"....kinda dumb... anyway...time for a beer..canada may be useless to Coulter..we have good beers in here... |

And that would be your opinion. While you may not like her, and her opinions may suck, I don't think you can say she is dumb, and stay within the realm of being factual. |

oh totally!... me saying that Ann Coulter is dumb is definitly my opinion... wont argue with you on that one! |

Coulter: "Canada used to be one of our most loyal friends and vice-versa. I mean Canada sent troops to Vietnam - was Vietnam less containable and more of a threat than Saddam Hussein?" McKeown interrupts: "Canada didn't send troops to Vietnam." Coulter: "I don't think that's right." McKeown: "Canada did not send troops to Vietnam." Coulter (looking desperate): "Indochina?" McKeown: "Uh no. Canada ...second World War of course. Korea. Yes. Vietnam No." Coulter: "I think you're wrong." McKeown: "No, took a pass on Vietnam." Coulter: "I think you're wrong." McKeown: "No, Australia was there, not Canada." Coulter: "I think Canada sent troops." McKeown: "No." Coulter: "Well. I'll get back to you on that." You're right...she's brilliant... Being wrong is one thing...continue to argue after you were proven wrong is just being dumb... |

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
It lost all credability when I saw it was Fox News, and became absolute comedy when I saw it was Ann Coulter. Figures. What kills me most about Fox News is keep in mind Murdock made millions off super market rags before Fox Network, Blockbuster, Fox News. He obviously knows how to tap into the lowest common denominator of people with what O'Reilly has called, "public interest", or "personal segemnts". Also keep in mind that advertisers also play a huge roll in what gets the most air time, as they want their ad spots run during the "hot issues". So some of these 24 hour news channels are little more than hot button pushers. :disgust |

Not that I'm taking her side on that, but would that maker less dumb or more dumb than dan rather? |
Quote:
"Ann Coulter was born into a family that she has described as "upper middle class". She attributes her conservative opinions and her acerbic rhetorical style to her upbringing in Connecticut. She has two elder brothers. Her father, John V. Coulter, was a lawyer, known for his legal work in cases against labor unions; he later became a constable. Her mother, Nell M. Coulter, is a member of the New Canaan Republican Town Committee. (Cloud, 2005)" Very ungrateful of her............ "In 1996, the fledgling television network MSNBC hired Coulter as a legal correspondent and political pundit, which launched her media career. Though she was allowed to make many partisan and controversial comments as a panelist, she was fired in 1997 after an exchange with Bobby Muller, president of the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation, in which she said, "No wonder you guys lost" (MSNBC's NewsChat, October 11, 1997)." I think she is a nutcase too..... "Critics also regularly attack Coulter for what they consider to be her unreliability in live interviews, alleging in particular that she frequently misstates facts rather than admitting error or unfamiliarity with the topic being discussed. Such charges are dismissed by Coulter and her supporters. Finally, many critics oppose Coulter's support for Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh, President Richard Nixon, and Senator Joseph McCarthy and many of her stated views, such as: Women should not be allowed to vote. Women have no capacity to understand how money is earned. Women should not be allowed in the military. Juvenile delinquents should be publically flogged. Liberals should be threatened with death or they will become traitors. Environmentalism is against God's wish that we "rape" the Earth. The way to prevent school shootings is to allow students to carry guns. Canada is lucky that we allow them to exist on the same continent. Muslims smell bad and we should forcibly convert them to Christianity. The New York Times building should be blown up with the editors and reporters inside. Fascism on a local level can be beneficial. " http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ann_Coulter |

I don't know shit about Dan Rather except that he was an anchor at CBS news... But just so you know: I think extreme left-winger are just as dumb as extreme right-winger.... i'm not biased...a dumbass is a dumbass wheter he's republican or democrat... |
Although she screwed up her facts I would like to publicly thank the 10,000 Canadians that did join the US military in support of operations in Vietnam - of these 110 were killed in action and 7 are still listed as MIA. So - thanks :)
Of course if Canada hadn't run to the UN and begged to be in the "truce committee" they could have sent troops officially, but at the time they did have the decency to at least provide us with some great intel from their committee they sent to Vietnam to "observe" :) |

its just funny to hear idiots bashing fox news for being bias because it doesn't match up with the news they hear on their political channels. Many of these kids dont understand politics and thats they way they want them. Fox news is an enemy of the democratic party because he lessons the ability of the traditional media to work for the party. Half of these kids would be embarassed to find out how much propoganda they are unknowingly sucking up each day. Imagine this: People sent in 100's of dollars to an organization to elect a candidate to raise their taxes by complaining about a bad economy. ??? Just reinforces the reason why people that vote democrat are not told about democrat core values. by the way, Dan Rather should be in jail for what he did. But he argued and argued. His defense: Yes I reported fake memos as accurate for 2 weeks, but I believe the story was true. Next story: Dans early retirment. |

true, some Canadians decided to join the americans in viet nam (approx 10k), however, the Canadian Government didn't sent troops in viet nam (and that was obviously what she was implying in that interview)... |
