almost got nailed by a tornado (pics)

first i got a call from a friend of mine up north that she was trapped in her cuz she couldnt get her car door to open (the wind was too strong) & she was pulled over on the road, she couldnt see anything, it was pitch black, raining extrememly hard, etc.....so i knew we were gonna be next..

opened my blinds here in the office & saw this lol...

and about 15 mins later i heard my towns Tornado Sirens go off & then this flashed on the tv screen...

all of a sudden, it went from storming *really* bad to that erie silence & no wind (classic signs of a tornado near by) in about a minutes time...

thankfully, it passed & went south towards Kenosha. (hope the few webmasters in Kenosha are okay! )

scary shit.

The strongest tornado ever recorded passed within 5 miles of my house.
1800 homes were destroyed and almost 7000 were damaged but amazingly only 40 people were killed.

So what? I didn't see any tornado is you pics? I get "tornado warnings" at least a dozen times a year or more where I live. I've even had some come within a few miles or less from my house, but I don't consider that "almost" getting hit by a tornado. If you can see the damage from your house you "almost" got it.

speaking from way too much experience here in the mid-south....tornado's suck!! I lived on the east coast for years, right on the beach and had my experiences with hurricane's but these fucking tornado's come out of nowhere and devaste the shit out of everything in a matter of minutes. I was never concerned until I experienced my first one, but believe me when I here those sirens going off my family is hightailing it to safety as quick as we can. We've gotten straightline winds at 120 miles an hour right through our property and that's just from the winds that are created by the tornado, not the tornado itself. And why so many dumb ass's in the mid-south choose to live in mobile homes, I'll never know.

Ive seen a few in my life.. The April 74 tornadoes that killed shit loads in KY and Ohio passed right over our school. That was in the day before sirens and stuff. Was a hell of a thing for a room full of 9 year olds to see. Also saw a few pass over when I lived in Missouri. And last summer we had 2 in less than 2 weeks. First warning I had was the trailer shaking.. Looked out the front window and saw it on the ground a few hundred yards from my house, thankfully heading the other way. Shit loads of damage right up the highway from me. The second one didnt do much damage, but still was a scary mofo.

I saw this damage right after it happened, my mom was in the hospital there..
That storm came up here, and took out part of our town. (think it was the same one)
