I will try to keep this short, but as was mentioned in a recent thread, video trailers are one of the most important selling points of a sight. I am by no means a video trailer expert but I have seen many examples from incredible to incredibly shitty.

So what makes a great trailer?
-great titles
-fast moving graphics
-cool fades and transitions
-lots of rotating and zooming

As mentioned in the recent thread, it seems that video trailers for sites are the next major milestone in converting sales. The old days of preview pictures and thumbnails converting sales are gone. Now it's all about the best video's and live feeds. So what is the formula for a great converting trailer?

Should the ideal trailer start with a site logo, introduction, a few graphic fades leading into the meat of the video. Then as the video progresses and builds up anticipation wrap it up with a flutter of images and end with the logo....

Feel free to post what you have found to be good and bad. I hate trailers that simply play 30 seconds of continous video from the same source. Also, is it worth the extra $ in bandwidth to provide multiple trailers, (6+) in large file size vs. a few small trailers. I understand this depends a lot on the quality of your traffic, (buyers vs. surfers).

Trailers are a major advantage when pitching a site. You have to tell a story with your trailers and make it more compelling that the actual video itself. We all go to the movies and see the previews of movies that grasp our attention...

I couldn't agree more. I hate to see a trailer for a site that just drags along with no build up or creation of anticipation.

I think you mean "how good the trailer is."....true, but I have seen some shitty content put together in kick ass trailers - kind of like "polishing a turd" but presented well it has a better chance of converting than just thrown together.

i agree. strenght of a video trailer is that it is audible and visual as well. so when you use these strenghts to come up with a concept that is exciting, and something that will keep the watcher wondering what could be next or what could have happened, the video will definitely sell.

My brother told me he never has to join sites because he loads up a bunch of trailers in his folder and sets his player to play them in a row, so he can be hands free.

I think more than anything a trailer is needed just to show the quality of the video that the member will see. Also for that member to see if he will be able to view it.

No need for fancy zooming titles and graphics on a trailer, the guys just want to see the girl. Maybe see if she's into it or not. Check for video quality... maybe he wants to see if a rubber is used or not?

show how cute the girl is then put some still shots of hardcore part + some text. the rest is imagination of the surfer, imho.

Just make your movie clip very interesting by showing the girls and not to put too much vid effect that would make the clip too good. Just make it plain & simple, yet so sexy.

the secret behind a trailer is showing them movie samples without giving them anything to jerk off to. its better to not have so many seconds consistantly, skip around to different parts. i dont think fancy effects or anything is going to make anyone join a porn site.

You obviously haven't been to the movies in awhile. Thats the art of Hollywood. They can make a Corey Haim movie look good for 2 minutes.
