Webmasters / Developers - What do you think about this idea?
A service useful for both webmasters and developers that will be based around two primary features.
1. Project Management - There is existing software that helps with project management, but nothing geared towards a specific industry which really limits their usefulness. This would allow both webmasters and developers (designers/scripters) to organize tasks for themselves, and also serve as a timeline for their clients. In the example of a designer, they would post their current projects (all would be very detailed with optional information like project name, client, description, objective, graphical dynamic timeline chart, deadline, progress comments area, etc...) and they would have a main profile page that would list their current projects along with a portfolio, client rating / comments, availability, etc... - And at the end of each project, whoever they're doing the work for would be able to optionally rate them based on a number of areas (completion time, communication, flexibility, creativity, etc...) In the example of a webmaster using the service, it would serve more as an organizational service from which they can store their projects with priority - although now that I think about it, a lot of webmasters don't like to share what they're doing, so that idea isn't probably realistic. 2. Developer Selection - This would help webmasters find worthy designers based on availability, client ratings, client comments, and portfolio work. This would help eliminate "looking for designer" threads if enough designers used the service. It seems unlikely that a service like this would work because I've seen more than enough similar projects come and go - but I believe it could work if executed right with a great interface and the right marketing. It would also need to be 100% free. Just a spontaneous idea I came up with n' decided to throw it out there ![]() |
