Though I am not religious nor do I belive in a god. Stating there is not one as a fact only shows a wee bit of ignorance of the word fact.

no, but it takes some real ignorance to look around and proclaim that there's no air just because they can't see it.

I'm not into religion myself but I'd never be stupid enough to go around proclaiming something as fact with nothing more than "weatherman can see the weather" as the all encompassing "proof."

I'm not sure what you are referring to, but my religion has been around for about 6000 years..... and doesn't oppress anyone.

The only major religions that have been around for only 2000 years are Christianity and Islam.

There are a lot more religions than those..

Why? Because there is a very minimal chance I could be wrong. Seriously doubt it but I will acknowledge that it still does exist until someone is able to prove it 100%.

Actually some religious people are very polite. Not everyone is out to convert you. If you remain polite to them and do not mock their beliefs they they are tolerable.

Buy into the big lie? Why because I refuse to proclaim god does not exist without 100% proof?

They hate me? Actually no often they have the very best intentions and wish to "save me". Those that "hate me" are hyprocrites anyways and going by their own rules they will be in hell

if you were wrong about the first 3 religions, what makes you sure of hinduism? don't you ever wonder that maybe you are suggestible? 3 major religions in one lifetime is a pattern.

it's an overgeneralization.. I don't hate him just because he is a nonbeliever.. it's just a matter of learning how to respect the beliefs of others even those different from yours

I'm not religious but you can't prove that there isn't a "God" anymore than there is one. To state it's a FACT that there are no higher beings is pure ignorance. You can't be sure about the unknown. You can say "Look around and see no evidence of God" ... but you can also look at the world and find it hard to believe there ISN'T a "God" or higher being.

Think about it. If living creatures didn't sleep or lived forever, we would use all of our resources within a year. The sun shines during the day for us to work, for things to grow, and it becomes dark at night... enticing our sleep cycle (although, I am nocturnal).

Think about the precision and depth of the human body and mind. Of course it's not perfect, but this is not a perfect world. However, it is absolutely beautiful from a design perspective. It's practical and has extraordinary detail; right down to our eyelashes that are meant to keep things from getting into our eyes.

With all our technology and advancements, we cannot come close to duplicating nature. This evolved by coincidence? Bullshit. This world and this life was meticulously planned by "someone". Whether that's a God, gods, aliens, and/or some higher being... we are not here by sheer circumstance in the universe.

First Three? Did you read the post? I was raised one way by my parents, that had very little to do with me, then spent 10 years with Wicca, and then have spent the last 10 or 15 years searching for that which fits MY view of the universe.

I'm guessing that you are very young.

Yes, it's a pattern. It's a pattern of searching, studying, reading, thinking, and discussing in order to find a viewpoint of the universe that fits me. It is a never-ending process, not just for religion, but for every aspect of life.

If you AREN'T on that journey, then I fear that you are just drifting along, without any growth at all....

But, hey, if that works for you.... Great!

Although, I agree that religion is used as a tool to steer the masses. Of course, that's known by most people who aren't brainwashed.

However, one has to stop and think... if it weren't for all the God fearing people in the world... how dangerous and out of control would the world be? Trusting that people will be practice self-discipline and good morals isn't something I'd like to wager on. Just like laws are needed, the fear of God is needed to keep the world as civilized as it is.

Religions are the biggest money makers, organized crime, and powerful establishments in the world. I don't agree completely with any of them... but I am in favor of encouraging any type of goodness in the world. So until we find a way to extinguish any and all ignorance in the world, it's probably a good thing that the sheeple are still impressionable.

But I disagreee on that god thingy ... I am my own god, and I worship no false gods (unlike so-called Christians and the rest of the lost little sheep/herd)!

Try and tell me there is a 'god' (besides me) ... fine, provide me with proof.

No proof = no god !
Very simply, yah?

there is a God, beliefs dont have to fit into a certain religion, only a stupid southern toothless butchy women as yourself would think that.

i believe in God but i do not fully believe in any reiligion.

belief is what keeps the human race going, we do go somewhere after we die, there is something that started to first bang and that thing is God.

if you didnt believe in any God you would be out doing whatever the fuck you want.

morals and society are built off religion, one in which you live in.

(still didn't read my post, huh?)

You are the one that seems stuck in one world view, probably about most subjects... and have a very limited outlook and wish to expand yourself, but..

Anyway, you seem so intent on your point that your reading comprehension of my points seems to be VERY poor,
So ok... Whatever you say!

belief is what keeps the human race going, we do go somewhere after we die, there is something that started to first bang and that thing is God.

if you didnt believe in any God you would be out doing whatever the fuck you want.

morals and society are built off religion, one in which you live in.
no they arent. morals and society are built upon survival.

the ten commandments or some varioation of pop up in all the major religions. these things are in our genetic code, because they directly affect survival.

Before we get into way too much bashing: you need to define religion - any specific system of belief, worship, or conduct that prescribes certain responses to the existence (or non-existence) and character of a God or superior power

religion boils down to a belief system or "faith" - and if you believe there is no god and that when you are dead you are dead you are of one of the many belief systems - the religion called Atheism - there are others that reserve judgement on making that call like Agnostics.

Everyone has a religion whether you want one or not - by definition a religion is just your beliefs - and therefore if you have any beliefs - in this case that God does not exist, then you are of one type of religion

Fortunately when we were "built" or "created" or however your belief system tells you exist, you were given a brain to ask questions like that - unfortunately we definitely have a lot of people in this world that let others make those decisions for them and they have become the major religions.

There still is within each human being the ability to create your own religion (or faith) and believe in what you like - seems about 300 years ago a few that were persecuted for believing in their faith system had to move to a new continent (the US) to practice those beliefs - but of course now those same people are persecuting other belief systems and have or are still trying to wipe out the other belief systems so that theirs becomes the dominant.

You're knowledge of religion is really crappy.... you need to study this subject more if you want to post about it.

wtf are you talking about "morals and society are built upon survival"? if this was the case we would only have to eat and sleep, wtf does society have to do with survival?

animals do not have any clear morals and they survive.

you are stupid.

Hehe you are just full of twice the hatred a normal religion causes

Anyway Religion has also made a lot of people happy and when you come to think of it, most religions has in the past created law and order.

The Ten demands is some general good rules a lot of people would see as universal.
How can we make people believe in this`?

Making a God say these words is a convinient way to make people believe in what they're are told.... So making people believe in God and thereby his words is not a bad thing!

You are extremely narrowminded but I will give you that there are no God

I believe in Snuffalufagus!

The '10-commandments' or the 'word of god' were merely social standards to help society by giving it direction or structure.
Some peeps decided to go all Wacko on the definition.
