Yeah, with epass and paypal, an authorization is the same thing as a purchase, they withdraw the funds for 7 days.. meaning, if you have $100 and authorize for $90.... you won't be able to purchase anything over $10 for at least a week.

It's retarded.

Ah, I have had problems trying to use the Virtual Visa as well. Out of two times trying to use the Virtual Visa once I had the same problem.

Ouch, 30 days is insane. It's so retarded, it's money in the system.... numbers on a computer. Why it needs to be held anywhere is stupid, much less that it has to be for 30 days.

Had the same thing happen to me when I attempted a purchase at Amazon. They authed it, then charged it seperately and the money was already in limbo for 30 days on the auth. Most retarded thing I've ever heard of. 30 days? My real credit cards the auths drop off after 7 days max.... I can live with 7 days, but on a pre-paid credit card? Come on.

The 7 day thing got me in Vegas in 04, with Paypal. Remember that?

I was there for 5 days. I get to the hotel and they use the card to authorize the room. No problem.

5 days later, I go to check out and hand them the card.... no go. It's denied. Why is it denied? Because I still have 2 more days to go on the authorization releasing those funds again.

STUPID.

This is not an ePassporte issue. Every Visa and MasterCard allows pre-auth's (which are actually authorizations that are not settled). This happens to you all the time on every card you have. Otherwise, you wouldn't be able to use a card to rent a car, dine in a restaurant, or get a hotel room.

The difference is with a "credit card" the auth amount doesn't usually put you over your credit limit so you don't notice it. That's why a lot of rental places won't let you use a "debit card" to secure a rental item (such as the place where I rent my cameras). With a pre-paid card your actual funds get tied up until the auth can be released.

ePassporte didn't invent this procedure. There is nothing eP can do to fix it. Had the merchant approved your purchase this wouldn't be an issue. ePassporte will do whatever we can to free up your funds, but they do need the merchant who secured them to inform them in writing that they do not intend to settle the transaction.

well.. i haven't used epass for sending money to someone else or use it for buying something but i have heard lots of negative feedbacks.. but epass is the most convenient way for us to receive payments.. and we use all our payment ystem accounts or whatever you call them for only receiving money..so what is important for us is the withdrawing feature... it really sucks that we do not have paypal..

I haven't been happy with Epassporte.com. Rules changed. I can no longer access any medium size portion of my own money. I can only transfer $300 a day to my bank account. I have asked for it to be expanded but I was declined without comment. Frankly, I am about to stop using it if I can't transfer large amounts from epassporte to my checking account. The people at Epassporte call center are nice but absolutely powerless to do anything for you. They are being paid to enter support tickets and have no access to information (other than the last 60 days). My new card doesn't work half the time at swipeable retail locations.

I am also having some nightmare problems.

There is a problem with recurring billing.. On SEVERAL companies , they wont accept my new virtual visa expiry date.. They had no problem signing me up , and no problem rebilling me over the last months.. evrything went fine, but now my virtual visa expired last month , and when i go to update my credit card details with the new expiry date , they say "this card cannot be accepted "

It always sucks when you lose money because someone cant bill you.. especially when you have the money to pay.


Also i should add , that when your electron card expires ( actually the month BEFORE your electron card expires ) IT STOPS WORKING... BEFORE THE NEW CARD HAS ARRIVED AND BEFORE IT HAS EXPIRED.. you can login to epassporte and change the pin on the old card to get it back working again but what a freaking pain in the ASS..

When i have thousands of dollars in my account and my card doesn't expire till the end of the month IT PISSES ME THE FUCK OFF when i go out to eat with the family and find out i cant get access to MY FUCKING MONEY..

anyways , someone should check out a few of those things and see if they can streamline it a bit better * end rant

the only place on the entire internet that my Wells Fargo Visa has EVER been declined... is epassporte...and that was when I was trying to LOAD my account... so I just shut down my account and bad mouth them every chance I get.

NEVER EVER EVER been declined anywhere but epassporte.

simmilar shit happend to me...

MY Credit Card got charged but e-pass said it never went through I lost 10 days with no money on the Credit Card or money in e-pass account... i was pissed but that got resolved. I just had to make like 10 phonecalls lots a shitload of time and time=money

You neglect to mention the rest of the world is 4-10 business days for an auth to drop off and you folks are 30... Come on, it's the saddest excuse for a policy I've ever heard of. ePassporte could be great, but you guys seem to strive to be third rate.

ePassporte has employees who've loaded thier eP account from a Wells Fargo account.

This must have been a freak occurence. A look at your account would probably tell me what happened. Wells Fargo temporary glitch? ePassporte temporary glitch? Bad info entered? Internet hick-up? -- Rare but possible reasons beyond your our control could have affected this.

i had 3 machines decline the card on the weekend..and thenit gave me error mesages...i figure f i leave it alone for a few days it will work itself out

or i can call up my good friend Rand...Epassporte is working out great for me overall

30 days = a billing cycle which is how long a merchant has to settle an authorization. That's why the paramter is 30 days. But ePassporte can release the funds on the very same day with documentation from the merchant who secured the authorization. The merchant must simply state that they do not intend to complete the sale. Done.

The point is not lost on me. That was simply to put things in perspective. Most people don't have that kind of money going through ePassporte.

But as I continued, there are ways to get parameters changed depending on the type of account that you have. I'm offering solutions here.

ePassporte is a signature based electronic use only card. You should not be having this problem at a retail location.

You can rationalize it all you want but if I need to transfer $1000 from epassporte to my checking account I shouldn't have to do it over a 4-8 day period in 4 separate transactions.

But it makes sense from a risk management point of view.

There are several differnet types of accounts, including those issued by sponsors to anonymous parties. That type of account does not enjoy the same parameters as someone who is identified with ePassporte.

There are several types of accounts. There are also ways to upgrade your account. Even more, there are accounts that have very little restrictions what-so-ever. My point is that if you are a high-volume business, there are accounts custom made to suit your needs. A freebie affilaite account isn't the right kind of account for someone who needs to move large sums of money unless they do what is required to increase their parameters.

I have a credit card and a checking account attached to my epassporte and a year of using it. What more do you need? A letter from my mother? I was declined expansion without comment.
