There's a trade-off to living in any country. Some have great climate, some have low taxes, some have hot chicks, some have cheap living or a great, politically stable society. No country has everything you could ever wish. Choose the one closest to your heart, the rest you'll learn to deal with.

When I was about 13-14 I travelled to Holland and totally fell in love with the country.
I also liked Austria a lot but for me Holland ruled.I`ve always wanted to go back.

Of course, living right in front of the caribbean I`ve always thought that if I had to leave my country I would have to do it for another tropical one.

Its socialist, so they're going to be out of control, especially in the upper income brackets.

taxes aren't that bad in norway actually.. Tax Misery Index from Forbes shows different numbers after how much you earn and if you're married or not, but they have something called Overall Tax Burden that we might be able to take a look at.

Norway ends up with an average of about 45%.. sweden tops the chart with around 53% while Canada has around 35% and the US has around 29%.. UK clocks in around 37% (this is the total taxes imposed at all levels).

check it out at http://www.forbes.com/home/global/20...30chart_2.html .. only OECD member countries though .. lowest is mexico with around 18%

there is a lot of different numbers for different situations so might be seriously different for some groups than what I posted above

One where I can bang girls with reckless abandon, have cheaper living but a higher quality of life.

Thailand and Brazil come to mind. But there are visa issues with Brazil.

I bet that's calculated by the quality of 'free' healthcare, welfare people's quality of life etc.. doesn't mean *I* have it any better in scandinavia than I'd have anywhere else. I use private doctors, I don't take any sort of welfare and I pay shitload of taxes.

That being said, I'd like to move somewhere south (warm) with slightly more reasonable taxes.

I wonder how many people replying to this thread have never been out of their own country.

Before you can jusge which country is the best to live in, you need to see a few different ones.

Switzerland is awesome but the cost of living is insane. Rio de Janeiro in Brazil has the best weather of any city I can find. Sort of Miami without the hurricanes.

I live in Australia. I like it here. Ideally, i want to be in Ireland. Other places i would consider living would be Canada and Switzerland (but only if i were quite wealthy).

My point exactly, that's why I hate the fuckers. They make it so easy for the "less fortunate ones" to stay less fortunate. The welfare system is a fucking joke, it's so easy to abuse it's not even a challenge anymore. If you're willing to work a lot and prepared to put in time, skill and effort to get ahead financially, Scandinavian countries are shit for living. Not to mention that the "solidarity preachers", meaning those who never had the brains to do more than work in a factory, will look down on you and treat you like an enemy.

I'd say move to South America, your money will buy any respect you need, plus the best living and healthcare in the world.
