That is, unless you're useless at doing your own keywords and SEO. But if you are I would recommend contacting one of the known people on GFY who do that for people. (me for one)

I get a call just now, can't recall the fellow's name. At first listen I can tell he's in sales and is obviously a talker... no problem so far. He tells me he is looking at my old casino site (a site that I have not promoted or done anything with in the past while, for a few reasons I won't get into). I tell him a little bit about the history of the site and it's status is now, after which he goes into his shpiel about what the company he works for does.

Ahh, they are a SEO company, apparently providing first page spots on various search engines for targeted keywords..... something that I have done for myself since day one. However, thinking like a businessman, I am thinking that I would like him to send me an email with their urls, prices, and all of their pertinent information to me.... because if I like what I see then maybe I can refer them some new business from time to time and maybe make the odd referral commish. I also query him as to what other services they offer.

I ask him if he would be willing to send me that email. He sidesteps that request and again goes into his shtick, this time going a lot deeper with the hard sell tactics.... I listen, respond a bit about what he's saying, then again express my desire to consider other business options besides me buying their service (of which I have no interest)..... whereupon he..... and this is the kicker.... goes absolutely APESHIT on me.

I'm talking flat-out yelling like a raving fucking lunatic.

The guy's voice goes up several octaves, says he's tired of wasting his time on me, cocks off at me about being "#1 in sales in his office, says "either I refer you to my manager for further information or I'm wasting my time" "I don't send Emails to people like you, either you......." blah blah blah....... "I MAKE PEOPLE THOUSANDS!" ... "IF YOU DON'T WANT TO MAKE MORE MONEY THEN..." ... "I DON'T HAVE TO SEND OUT EMAILS TO PEOPLE, I HAVE CLIENTS WHO MAKE A POSITIVE DECISION RIGHT AWAY" ..... etc etc on and on.

I'm standing there smiling, thinking "the people around him in his office must think this chump is one click away from commiting a mass murder followed by a suicide." I was utterly calm all through this whole thing, I never raised my voice once, and after he finally calmed himself slightly he asks me (after a few seconds of silence) "Well? Where are we at?"........

I say "you tell me, you're the one doing all the yelling" :D

He says "What's it going to be?"

I say "Oh, we're way past that. I'd say we're done, wouldn't you?"

He says "I guess so"

Me: "Best of luck with the attitude"

Have you been called by these twits? Obviously he was out trolling for websites and found mine, certainly he could fine some of yours eventually. Just be warned... the guy is a fucktard, and as far as I'm concerned only a POS company would hire him.

that screaming and yelling trick is used by A LOT of telemarketing guys - and you would not belive how well that trick works on some people. Its normally people trying to get you to invest in highrisk stock, but looks like they are trying SEO now

Eugh, I hate it when this happens. 1P.com is formerly TrafficPower, aka, the biggest SEO scam out there. Not only do they do jack shit, they get their clients blacklisted from Google and there's currently solicitations for organizing class action lawsuits against these scammers.

They're banking off the 1P name because "First Place Software" are the makers of WebPosition Gold, a reputable SEO software company so people think its actually the makers of WPG calling. It's not. So to anyone getting calls from these people, avoid them like the plague!!

I had no prior knowledge of them up until that call, but it's pretty easy to read people just by what they say and how they're saying it. I've been in sales and marketing for years, the signs this guy was throwing off were unmistakeable. I was a bit surprised at how easy it was to set him off.

I simply have no interest in what he or anyone like him is selling. You are referring to something that is impossible. Let me put it to you this way.... would you spend money on an aspect of webmastering that you already know how to do?

Its even funnier when they called me. They said your site should be ranked better. I asked if he even saw my site and once he went to it he laughed and hung up. I know these scammers rather well, its not the first time I've heard from them

At first I thought the guy might have been calling to offer me some networking opportunities for the online casino business or something.... that's why I gave his call the time of day.

And I wasn't trying to set him off.... once he realized he wasn't getting the exact sale he wanted he lost it all by himself.

So there it is.... First Place SEO are scammers. (and assholes)

Not a huge deal but it is something for webmasters to be mindful of. :D
