This isn't meant to cause unecessary drama... this is a serious accusation and it got me boiled to the point where I want it to be exposed!!

Since I don't post much, I'm Rick M (formerly RickYNOT), founder and owner of The Best Porn: http://www.thebestporn.com/ ... I've advertised on CJ (with Womak) in the past, and have done a lot of domain business with Latona in the past. Hell, I even attended one of the "Dollars.com" demos because I respected Latona so much.

Recently I visited your new review site PornSavvy.com, which was posted/linked from CJ. I found a few similarities to our site (pros/cons text format, review highlight text format, site facts with same format, etc). We've been imitated by many other review sites, and usually I don't say anything. I even would have exchanged links, and never said a word. I don't worry about little stuff.

However, today I found other more blatant copyright infringement. I'll post screen captures if I need to, but I'll let the initial GFY crowd see for themself:

1. Stolen Avatars

well.... they only seem to pop up after the fact. my observation has always been that everyone has "excellent employees" who are the stars of the industry and only suddenly have a "rogue employee that will be dealt with accordingly" when cornered and confronted with incriminating proof of wrong doing.

heh funny enough as soon as i posted the japan puke file on cutejapan.com 1 day later it ended up on cj ;)

one thing i find is cute. how all these funny video sites watermark their content like they actually own it.

well all those videos and photos on Consumption Junction are SUBMITTED to Consumption Junction by surfers - ROGUE surfers - ROGUE surfers who watermark their videos with the Consumption Junction watermark. This is real bummer and I?m totally empathetic. I will lend you the same advice that you gave me when someone ripped off our last site, ClimaxCorner. ?In this industry someone is always going to steal your ideas, you can?t stop them. The only way that you can beat them is to continue to innovate.? I don?t know what improvements you are currently working on but I?m sure whatever they are that CJ could steal your whole site and they still couldn?t compete with you. It doesn?t make it right, but you get the idea.

As for CJ, I think that it?s really a classless move and totally below a company that is profitable, has money to reinvest into their company, and can easily afford to pay someone to come up with some original ideas, especially at Filipino rates:-). You would expect this from a newbie, but I think that it?s totally unacceptable from an established company in the industry, one that is trying to be a leader. It?s so freaking easy to make money in this industry by playing it straight, I don?t understand why anyone needs to resort to cheating and stealing.

I really hope that there is an explanation for this?

Honestly Rick. I'm a bit pissed myself. We just built the fucking site. It's only been live for a couple of days. The guys that built it are on the other side of the world. They fucked up and anyone that wants to laugh about the rouge employee excuss can blow me. People will lose their jobs over this and possibly an entire department head. You should have contacted me after all the business we've done. This is the last post I'm going to make in this thread. Marc's in charge of traffic and will hopefully take it from here.

Hey Rick, what can I say man. You had approached me to buy our script and site a long time ago so it wasn't a surprise when there was talk of a review site of your own. But once I got there, I simply couldn't believe our avatars were on your site, plus all the other stuff used verbatim. It just felt like a knife in the back, and I wanted others to know. So whether you were directly involved or not, you can't blame me for being upset. Posting on GFY wasn't the best way to handle it, but I knew I'd "feel" like I got a little justice and that's what I wanted at the time. If it was one of my businesses ripping off someone, I would expect them to do the same thing. I certainly wouldn't blame them.

There is NO WAY that Marc or myself would knowingly use the same avatars as our biggest competitor. We'd have to be crazy which we aren't. By the way, you can remove shortdomains.com from your signature since I bought that domain and 220 other ones you owned.

Let me know if you want to do a link trade. We are going to throw a shit-ton of traffic at this site. Let's learn from this, move on and make some money together.

This highlights the trouble with outsourcing.

My former partner was filipino, lived here in Vegas and had a shop down in the Philippines in Angeles City. It was a short lived experiment that lasted about 6 months.

While the quality of the work could be outstanding, copyright theft was always a concern, and a couple of times we caught it before it hit the client's eyes.

Heads would roll. We went through a number of managers in a short amount of time, but for some reason they just didn't seem to care..they were so far away I guess they felt untouchable.

I hate to denigrate an entire population or race, but at this point in my life I would not trust another project to be outsourced to the Philippines. It was just way too much of a hassle, and never worth the so called "savings," in cost.

It cost us way much more to have to micro manage every fucking detail. Good luck with outsourcing for those of you who decide to do it.

I am also pretty sure that you 'don't' just give ftp access to upload a whole site.

Hard to find skilled labor that can built a website, has knowledge about php and has
a little bit more knowledge such as database.

so they tell a designer they want a site similar to "site A" so the designer uses it to make "site B" and he forgets to pull out and change out some content. OOOPSS Shit! I mean if people didnt copy peoples sites therte would only be like 20 sites in the hole world. LOL

My name is Richard Dotson, and I am the project manager for the PornSavvy project, and the one ultimately responsible for this mistake.

When we started the development of the site, our programmer gathered avatars from the net to use for development only. This was to be for local testing, never for publication.

There was an error in our backend preventing a new writer from uploading his correct avatar. This came to my attention late last week, and we finally corrected the bug the end of our shift on Friday. At that time the reviews by this writer had no avatar displayed. Unknown to me, the programmer did not have a copy of the writers avatar on his computer, and decided to put up one of the old development graphics as a temporary fix. Thus, now I am in a fix.

The error has been corrected.

My apologies to Rick, Marc and Rick M. for the trouble this caused.
