BEST *first* movie to watch on big screen HDTV?

My 60" HDTV finally comes in this week after a month of waiting and I can't decide what movie to watch on it first. I need something that will make me say "wow". I really don't know what movies would look good with HDTV.

A few options:
Matrix
Scarface
Braveheart
Saving Private Ryan

I like action movies obviously. Any suggestions?

Gladiator or Saving Private Ryan would be great choices. Maybe even Troy?

Of those choices I'd say Saving Private Ryan.

Another you might consider is one of my old favorites, The Warriors.

That movie would rock on the bigger screen with the big sound.

You got a sound system with it yet? I made the mistake not getting one with mine until a few years later. It makes the tv that much more better.

Tell me what you think. I think by the time I'm done buying new cables it will be more than the receiver, haha. I can get the receiver for $350.

Scarface is a great movie, but I'm wondering what this would look like in HDTV. Can they convert old movies to HDTV resolution? I thought maybe they had to be filmed a certain way. Not sure about that though.

Also not sure where you would find this in HDTV to watch, since it isn't exactly playing all the time on pay per view.

If you just want to watch a DVD you won't get the full effect. Still looks awesome though.

Le Grand bleu

Le Grand bleu AKA The Big Blue, and you'll also watch a meaningful movie.
Not the best acting ever, not the best plot ever, but a movie full of good values, and a great score. When French nail a movie, it's usually really good.
Highly inspiring. I will confess that I'm quite adept to top notch Home theaters, and good movies, but I cannot get into tech details. Just good stuff, pretty high end. Yum!

First thing to watch on it would be the HD channels rather than the movies. Just for the effect, those HD nature and travel channels look the best. Some of those concerts are crazy too.

Troy, By far the best to start with IMO
Fight Club
Matrix
Scarface
Braveheart
Gladiator

Congrats on the new TV man! I am sure you wont get any work done for atleast 2 weeks.

Twister - unreal sound and visuals

Star wars - Any of them really

Matrix - Awesome (mentioned allready)

Batman movies - some of the best sound I've heard

Quick and the Dead - great western movie with sweet sound and video with sharon stone and russell crowe

Aliens - killer sound

Predator - Fucking great arnie classic with killer sound and visuals

Thats a few, now I need to get a cool system myself.

edit: The mummy would also be cool, as would tombraider )
