First thing to watch on it would be the HD channels rather than the movies. Just for the effect, those HD nature and travel channels look the best. Some of those concerts are crazy too.

I have a 60" HDTV and I love it. This would be my list from start to finish for the fisrt week of TV.

Troy, By far the best to start with IMO
Fight Club
Matrix
Scarface
Braveheart
Gladiator

Congrats on the new TV man! I am sure you wont get any work done for atleast 2 weeks.

Actually, best channel ever is Discovery channel. They are way ahead of the game in HD.

agreed.
Also - although they're not my favorite movies, animated films like Shrek or the Incredibles look amazing on big screen HDTV.

If you don't have an up converting DVD player any DVD you watch on an HDTV set will look like shite.

DVD's are 480p and your TV is approx 720p-1080p.

Get an up-converting DVD player and thank me later.

Example:

"This sleek and stylish DVD player is designed for consumers who want to get the most out of their HD displays with their existing DVD collections. The player employs a digital process that upgrades the standard DVD resolution to high-definition resolution with 1080i, 720p, and 768p signals."

You still only get 480 lines of information off the DVD though. I have a modded Xbox that outputs DVD's at 1080i and there isn't that much of a difference as compared to watching it at 480p. Have to wait for HD-DVD to get a big difference.

Damn, that's a VERY tough call. I like ALL the movies you mentioned A LOT!

But if you're going for a old movie, chose Godfather
