2257!!!

I have just recently joined here, and just recently heard about the 2257 thing. That is just some fucked up regulation. I'm sure that that the average joe pornsurfer isnt even aware of that shit. And am I right in the understanding that it is not yet permanent? If that is the case then people should fight back. Wouldn't it be a good idea for webmasters ofn their TGP's to have after a few thumb clicks have a pop up, with a very brief explanation come up to make people aware. Even my union has little things that you can click on that send a canned letter to the involved partys. e.g. congress, senate. Maybe i'm naive I dunno... But a message needs to be sent that we do not want to regress into Victorian era legislation. This is just a first step into more puritanical bullshit. Maybe i'm wrong, but the oprn industry isn't a billion dollar industry because a small minority like to view it. We should make it easy for the average surfer to send a message to the small handfull of people making these choices for the rest of us. Maybe if their email boxes are clogged with millions of emails, they might slow down a bit. But maybe not...

just mho...

Yes you are. Unless there is an injunction in 2 months 2257 is here. Congress isn't going to get rid of 2257 to please us evil pornographers.

Why would they get rid of law that not only will ban all porn everywhere, but protects children and provides kids with 100% of their daily allowance of 11 vitamins and minerals?

Ok, so there were a few typos... What can I say? I was pissed. Judging from the replys I can see why this legislation rolled over this industry with ease...

There wasn't ANY legislation ninny. This was "passed" by the DOJ and they didn't need Congress' approval to do so. If you are so fucking big and bad run for Congress on your "pro-porn" platform and see if you get elected.

I know it wasn't legislation, and I know congress didn't have anything to do with it. I simply meant that messages should be sent to the deciding party. No need to get nasty. I tried to edit my last post but the 3 mins had passed. Most of you have been very friendly so far. Unfortunately the nature of porn is that so many people will view it but only a few of them will admit it. So it is easily targeted by the deciding govt bodies.

I'm not getting nasty. And people did have achance to send messages to the "deciding" party. When the proposed changes were announced there was a 30 day comment period. Many people sent in comments and the DOJ's response to most of those was "We don't give a fuck."

Gator,

My apologies. I am not upset with you. I guess I am just upset with our Govt. A 30 day window? What kind of shit is that?
