Good UPS backups, confused about wattage

Looking for a good UPS for a pentium 4 system, I've got an old one that's like 5 years old that says "wiring fault" when I plug stuff into it....my guess is the pentium 4 takes up too much wattage for it. Googled it, but can't seem to find a concrete answer as to how much power a UPS must be able to handle to support a p4...any ideas?

Open up your computer and look at the power supply, there should be a sticker on it with the wattage. Do the same for everything you have plugged into it and you can calculate the minimum amount of time the UPS will run on battery (The computer power supply doesn't run at peak constantly so it will last longer). As for the wiring fault indicator that usually indicates faulty wiring in the outlet you're plugged into, at least it does on my battery backups. The most common thing I've found is a loose ground wire or ungrounded outlet.
