I liked it better when movie soundtrack actually meant the music from the movie. Not a special album to go along with it just for the hell of it.

I like the music from...

Schindler's List
Forrest Gump
Jurassic Park
Terminator 2
Polar Express
Indiana Jones
Back To the Future
....

BOWIE: Putting Out The Fire...from Cat People. Not the version on his "Let's Dance" album, but the version from the soundtrack.

Movie Soundtracks that i found to be impressive.

Heavy Metal
Highlander again
Pulp Fiction
The Last Waltz (easily top 3)
American Graffiti
The Wall
Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band
The Lost Boys
The Lion King

The songs in these movies were part of the movie, not just a marketing ploy.
